UK Motorists Prefer Smaller Vehicles for Gas Savings and Lesser Insurance
The choice of which vehicle is important, particularly when you consider gas consumption. As for UK motorists, the trend seems to be leaning on a smaller vehicle, one which can consume lesser fuel yet aid a driver in getting places where he is supposed to be. Of course we all know that electric cars are another option but their price tag is something not all people can afford for now.
Today, we are suffering the worst credit crisis ever to hit us. People are finding it hard to cope up with their everyday needs and some even resort to public transport to get to work or places where they simply have to be. But there are a handful of people who need private means of transport, a dilemma that forces them to choose their cars wisely with constraints.
Among the factors affecting vehicle choice as well is the insurance coverage. And it looks like the higher spec vehicles carry a more expensive insurance premium, something that has become alarming for motorists and a reason to turn to these smaller cars.
Steve Chelton, Insurer development manager at Swinton said: “Looking at these figures it is clear that Brits are choosing to cut their outgoings and drive smaller engined vehicles which are cheaper to insure, tax and refuel.
“Cars with small engines and no modifications, which also have cheap and easily accessible spare parts, are an ideal choice if you want to keep insurance premiums to a minimum.”
