The past week Toyota unveiled a great safety innovation that will be used in the Japanese market, it is the world’s first rear-window airbag, and as strange as it might sound, it is going to be used in the iQ microcar. You’d thought an innovation like this could be used in better cars, but that won’t happen, at least for now.
The function of the new airbag isn’t to protect the driver, but to protect the rear passengers heads in case of an accident.
The airbags work with the headrests to minimize impact to the head from a colliding vehicle or parts of the hit vehicle, helping to reduce the severity of injuries.
Does a rear-window airbag really work? Or is it just Toyota putting glory in itself with this creation? We will have to wait and see…
