Okay, so that’s the marketeer in me getting a little too enthusiastic, but the folks down in Australia managed to put together this awesome little video about the ultimate in car protection–the Tesla Coil Car Alarm.

Remember that scene in Robocop 2 with the car alarm that actually electrocuted car thieves who sat in your car?  Well, the Tesla Coil Car Alarm actually electrocutes them before they even get to the car.

Actually, I’m not a hundred percent sure of the physics behind this one, but I don’t think it’d actually electrocute anyone.  Like I said, I’m not a hundred percent, so anyone with some physics training, please weigh in.  But either way, it definitely makes for a cool video, especially that shot at the end with the three foot high ring of electric death surrounding your car.  That’d probably keep most any car thief away from your ride.
