The Alert Driver Wristband, Or, Sleepy Drivers Kill
The Alert Driver Wristband, folks…it’s a strange idea, that frankly, I don’t understand for the life of me. I mean, come on…it’s a wristband that can tell how sleepy you are by communicating with an RFID tag positioned in the car that, in turn, can gauge your reaction time.
This comes courtesy of the crew at Yanko Design, and the physics behind it is a little shaky–frankly, I can’t tell how a wristband talking to an RFID tag could measure your reaction time. Especially if it’s on your wrist to begin with–you’re just moving your wrist on the steering wheel. But from what I’ve heard so far, just because I’m unclear on the nuts and bolts doesn’t get in the way of it working. Word is it does the job just fine.
If nothing else, it’s a nifty concept–I haven’t even seen it available for sale anywhere–but anything that keeps drivers awake and aware is good by me.
