If you’re looking to buy a midsize SUV, excuse me SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle), you should probably wait until the end of the year to check out BMW’s latest offering – the 2010 X3.

Changes to the 2010 X3 include a lower roof line along with rounded corners to make for a sportier look, inspired by the X5. Under the hood owners will be able to opt for for petrol or diesel. BMWBlog predicts that the petrol engine choices will include a V6 3l engine and a twin-turbo V6 capable of 306 HP. The diesel option, on the other hand, will be the same one found in the X5d and 335d, two other diesel offerings from BMW.

The 2010 X3 is currently set to hit showrooms sometime in November of this year.

The new 2010 BMW X3 model will be nearly as big as the original X5 yet better equipped and thanks to increased competition in the small SUV segment it looks like pricing will remain similar to the current X3. 
This step-up in size and a greater array of equipment means the 2010 BMW X3 will be moving upscale but its prices will linger at their current levels to avoid competition from the Audi Q5 and the Mercedes Benz GLK.

This news means the 2010 X3 is expected to be priced no higher than $40,525 which is the price for the current model. Meanwhile, the GLK starts at $34,775, while the Q5 quattro starts at $38,025.

Don’t be surprised if you see more BMWs in India than Mercedes Benzs. BMW has overtaken the Mercedes Benz as the no. 1 luxury car in India. The company seems to be on upswing and has launched a number of its top cars in India. BMW is becoming a rage with India’s hip and happening young population.

BMW India has announced to launch five new cars in 2009. It has already introduced the all-new 7 Series sedan and the new 3 Series sedan. The SUV X6 and X3 diesel and a new sports model will be launched sometime this year. The company overtook Mercedes Bens in January this year becoming the more preferred luxury car in the country.

BMW sold 181 more cars than Mercedes in India in January. Two mighty luxury car makers BMW and Mercedes are locked in a fight for supremacy in India. The war is going on with the entry of German car giant’s India entry a few years ago.

BMW bettered its forecast by a full hundred percent last year. It is still hoping that in a year when car manufacturers are not very certain of their future, the company is hoping to sell more cars this year.
