Reports have today surfaced regarding a new market that Nissan plans to bring their all electric Leaf to. We already know that there are several places in the US that will be getting the Leaf, Tennessee, Oregon, California etc, but have yet to hear of regions out of the country.

Well said reports come from Globe and Mail that say that Vancouver inhabitants will be the first Canadians to get their hands on the Leaf in late 2010 with it hitting dealerships in British Columbia sometime in 2011.

Since this is right around the time the Chevy Volt is expected to hit the market we will have to see how the two cars compare.

The future is here, well, almost — It seems that Vancouver, British Columbia officials have decided that it will be beneficial if all new parking lots in the city are graced with car charging ports.

Not only will it be made mandatory for these ports to appear in new parking facilities for apartments or other housing complexes but they will be added to government owned parking lots currently standing today.

While this is a great idea and a push towards a more greener society, is it really necessary right now? I mean, are there really that many plug-in electrics on the road that could utilize these?

Two states in Vancouver will be glad to note that starting today, an easier way to park their cars can be made via new mobile pay parking system. The new Pay By Phone parking system was made possible by Verrus Mobile Technologies, addressing the problems of efficient payment options.

“Pay by Phone is a natural fit for active Alaskans and tourists alike,” said Rick Onstott, ACDA’s Parking Director. “We have many popular downtown attractions and events, many of which are staged in winter. Paying by phone in the comfort of a car and avoiding event lines at pay stations will surely be a hit in Anchorage.”

True enough, technology has done it again and makes life easier for motorists who have bad experiences when it comes to waiting in queue from lines due to manual means of settling their parking fees. This time around, the public can look forward to a modern and convenient way to pay the fees and be on their way.
