Normally we wouldn’t report on news such as this but since the Transformer movies series is pretty much entirely based around cars (besides Megan Fox, of course) we thought you might want to know — Series director Michael Bay has recently updated his official website letting us know that

Transformers 3 is already shooting and currently slated for a July 1st, 2011 release date.

There were virtually no details in terms of plot but we do know that Megan Fox is already signed on with hopes of Shia LaBeouf doing the same. Additionally, Bay is currently in talks with Hasbro over new characters which means we are to see some awesome transforming vehicles come July 1st.

Transformers has been a hit ever since the first movie hit the bigscreen. Recently, Transformers 2 made its way to the market to what has been generally well reception.

This reception has led a mall in Beijing to promote the movie in a somewhat peculiar way. What you see above it said mall’s creation; a Transformer made completely from a Volkswagen Jetta.

To my knowledge, there are no Jetta based Transformers in the movie, but at least they tried, right?

Are you anxious to see the sequel of Transformers? Well it looks like General Motors isn’t that interested in making the most of this movie release with a bunch of Transformers-related commercials.

GM has lots of cars in the movie, the Chevy Beat and the Chevy Spark, the Camaro and the Corvette Stingray Concept but it won’t buy that many commercials to cover them. GM doesn’t have the money to sustain a similar campaign to the one it did in 2007 so you won’t see that many GM ads when Transformers 2 comes out. After all, the movie is already a huge GM commercial, isn’t it?

I am not a hardcore fan of the Transformers but it has recently come to my attention that the sequel will be filled with new General Motor cars, as was the first part too. The last inclusion was the Chevy Volt which had to be squeezed into the script in the minute. That’s what an old chat file says:
