Just announced, Toyota will begin mass production of Plug In Hybrids in 2012. This was reported by Nikkei English News. Toyota Motor Corporation will be the first to start commercial production of these hybrid vehicles if it makes such a deadline.
These hybrid vehicles are designed to be easy to use and more fuel efficient than most existing models of hybrid vehicles on the roads today. The vehicles will be designed to be charged at home, which would allow them to be an easy alternative to everyday consumers. According to the news report, Toyota plans to manufacture between 20,000 and 30,000 of the plug in hybrids in 2012.

A new touch pointing device was unveiled by Denso Corporation. The new controller has a pointing device that moves the cursor on the display screen to select buttons, icons, and other interface elements. The remote touch controller is mounted in the vehicle’s center-console and allows drivers to remotely control cabin equipment such as the car navigation system, audio system, and air conditioning system.
This is the world’s first such controller for vehicles with a two-dimensional cursor on the display screen. The new controller is installed on the Lexus RX, which Toyota Motor Corporation released in Japan earlier this month.
This user-friendly human machine interface will allow drivers to easily and accurately operate cabin equipment remotely, helping to ease driver workload.
