Subaru of America announced the pricing for the 2010 Subaru Impreza as well as a Special Edition Package on the Impreza 2.5i Premium. The official price of the 2010 Subaru Impreza will be $17,495. The 2010 Subaru Impreza has been impressive as of late and is actually a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.

Aside from the 2010 Impreza, the other notable models include the following:

• Impreza 2.5i Premium ($18,495)
• Impreza 2.5i Premium with the Special Edition Package ($18,995)
• Impreza Outback Sport ($19,995)
• Impreza WRX 5-door model ($25,495)
• Impreza WRX STI ($34,995)

From the looks of it, Subaru has a roster of great vehicles to choose from and with the features and style that they carry, it would not be surprising if car buffs will be checking them out, particular the special edition vehicles.

Don’t look know but it seems two familiar fixtures in the car industry are banding together to deliver an affordable sports coupe priced somewhere between $20,000 to $25,000. Coded as “086A” this new brainchild is a potential product from the reported talks being done at the moment by Toyota and Subaru.

If you are wondering what the assignments of the two cars would be, you can sum it up basically as Toyota will be in charge of the car’s styling while Subaru focuses on the car engineering.

Powering the future coupe will be Subaru’s 2.0-liter flat-4 equipped with a new direct-injection system, tuned to produce an impressive 200 bhp and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. The suspension will consist of MacPherson struts up front and a multilink setup at the rear, with the chassis based on that of the Subaru Impreza and Legacy.

Now this partnership and vehicle for that matter looks like it will be something to watch. Regardless, expect a great car to come out for 2012 thanks to the joint minds of Toyota and Subaru.

I don’t know about you guys, but driving Ken Block’s heavily modified Subary WRX, as seen in the above video, is my kind of fun.

It looks like Mr. Block wasn’t satisfied with just modifying the tires to hold traction in the snow better and went a step farther adapting the car to accept 4 massive looking treads. 

I wonder what Subaru thinks when they see stuff like this.

Cars.com has come out with their “Best Bet” cars to help guide shoppers in making vehicle buying choices. Apparently, the final selection included three models from Subaru. The models were:

• 2009 Subaru Impreza
• Subaru Impreza WRX STI
• Subaru Forester

According to Cars.com, the two Subaru Imprezas are each a “Best Bet for Sports Cars,” and the Subaru Forester has been recognized as a “Best Bet for SUVs and Crossovers.” To qualify as a Cars.com Best Bet, models must meet three quantified criteria: a “Good” rating in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests; average or higher reliability ratings; and average or higher gas mileage within their class.

“We are proud to accept these awards from Cars.com,” said Tom Doll, COO and executive vice president of Subaru of America, Inc. “The editors who have named the Subaru Impreza and Forester ‘Best Bets’ evaluate scores of vehicles, so this recognition comes from true automotive experts. The Forester and Impreza models offer safety, reliability and performance — and are fun to drive.”

Purchasing used cars is the trend these days as consumers try to save on spending for high-cost new cars. And Consumer Reports breaks down the wise used car investments per category as it identifies the most and least reliable used cars for 10 years – from model years 1999 to 2008 – in the magazine’s 2009 Annual Auto Issue.

Reliability data was compiled from the magazine’s Annual Auto Survey, which generated responses about more than 1.4 million new and used vehicles.

Below are Consumer Reports’ picks in five categories:

Small Cars: Honda Civic, Toyota Echo, Scion xB, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix, Pontiac Vibe, Mazda 3, Mazda Protege, Subaru Impreza

Family Cars: Honda Accord, Toyota Prius, Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Toyota Camry (except ‘08 V6), Subaru Outback (6-cyl.), Nissan Altima

Minivans: Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey

Small SUVs: Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, Mitsubishi Outlander

To help consumers identify cars within their budget, Consumer Reports’ Annual Auto Issue also contains a “Models to Look For” list, which is categorized by price. It features a variety of used vehicles which all have above-average reliability and are priced from less than $4,000 to $30,000 and up. CR found 19 cars that can be purchased for $6,000 or less including the 1999 Acura CL and the 2003 Buick Century.
