And today, we’ve got a little street ready footage with a GT-4788 Supra, Sweden’s fastest six speed Supra, and the world’s fastest E85 vehicle, or so says the video.
First, a little wetting of the tires so that an American burnout can take place (interesting that Swedes would go with an American burnout–but they’re doing this on the road so they didn’t have near the room required for a hyperkinetic Australian burnout) , and then we’re off down the road.
Oh, but this isn’t just about the Supra, no sir–in fact, you’ll get a special treat included with this video. Viewed from two different angles, including from one camera located inside the car itself, you’ll get to see the Supra apply a drag chute.
And for just one more surprise, there’s nothing like a quick trip to the drive-thru following a hard day of driving and testing drag chutes…with extremely appropriate music, no less. So enjoy the video!
The 2011 Ford Mustang GT has been announced and it is coming with lots of power. It will come with a 5.0 liter V8 engine which should put to good use the 412 horsepower it comes with. Despite all that power, fuel economy is expected to be better than previous models.
Other highlights of the 2011 Ford Mustang GT include a six-speed transmission (manual and automatic), improved driving dynamics, noise, vibration and harshness controls. For brakes, front and rear brakes are larger, the rear lower control arm has been improved and rear stabilizer bar bushings have been stiffened. It will be available in three vibrant new colors: Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat, Race Red and Ingot Silver.
GM has recently announced that their engineers are hard at work on a second generation 6T40 6-speed automatic that will apparently give all cars using the transmission a 5% boost in gas mileage.
Autoblog reports that the new transmission comes from updated technology featured on the 2011 Chevy Equinox which currently touts a 32mpg rating. These updated electronic control strategies will apparently provide a 3% boost in mileage with anoterh 2% coming from the reworking of the actual hardware of the transmission.
We’ll let you know when more information is made known about which future GM models will support this new transmission.
In what many are comparing to the 2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe promises a lot of new features for car enthusiasts looking for affordable and feature-filled cars in the market. It’s the companion to the Hyundai Genesis sedan, a credible car in its own right that was voted 2009 North American Car of the Year by automotive journalists. But you aren’t apt to get the two mixed up. The sedan is a refined family vehicle.
The two-door, in contrast, is sleekly low slung with race car-like styling and two choices of engines, a 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder generating 218 horsepower and a 3.8-liter V6 churning out 306 hp.
The 2.0-liter model starts at $22,000 and is priced around $25,000 with options. The limited edition 3.8-liter version starts at $29,875 and can run with extras up to $32,000 or so. According to Zarres, it is the lowest priced rear wheel drive car in America with more than 300 hp.
The V6 has a six-speed transmission with clutchless manual feature, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, 18 inch alloy wheels, leather seats, xenon headlights and power locks and windows standard. There’s also a host of accessories and safety features, including backup warning system, anti-lock braking, electronic stability control and Bluetooth-enabled hands free phone.
The Genesis coupe likely will replace the Tiburon, which has been Hyundai’s sportier model.
