It looks like Kia is pushing the level of in-car comfort with its proprietary Climate Control Seat (CCS) system will be offered as an option for the rear seats only in the new 2010 KIA Opirus full-size sedan. The KIA Opirus, the first KIA vehicle to offer CCS, is expected to be in showrooms this summer.

The new KIA Opirus has a more modern look, an enhanced interior with new high-tech features like CCS, and a larger, more powerful and more fuel-efficient V6 gasoline engine.

CCS, the premier actively heated and cooled seat system in the global automotive seat market, delivers year-round comfort to automotive seat occupants by providing both active heating and cooling. The system is completely independent of the automobile’s heating and air conditioning system and does not reduce power available to the engine. It also emits no CFCs or other gases and is completely friendly to the environment.

While everyone is trying to curb down on cost, you can be sure that the demand for luxury vehicles or chauffer driven cars is still around. While many corporate executives are abandoning chauffeur-driven limousines, and executive sedan services because of a perception that they are “wasteful,” Anthony Berritto, owner of Salson Logistics has found the opposite to be true.

“During a typical week, I used to spend upwards of 20 hours in traffic, getting virtually nothing done,” explains Berritto, who now rides in the back of a mini stretch Lincoln Town Car that is barely discernable from a standard sedan from the outside, called a LTC 30 Mobile Office. The car was built to spec by Royale a Cabot Coach Builders Company in Haverhill, Massachusetts. “This allows me to buy back that valuable time.”

Berritto’s vehicle is called a Royale LTC 30 Mobile Office because it was “stretched” 30 inches, giving rear-seat occupants a tremendous amount of legroom/space. The vehicle is equipped with dozens of special amenities, including ergonomically designed desks, onboard computer, 20-inch LCD monitor, satellite television, reclining rear seats with massage, 110v inverter, six-inch extended rear doors, and advanced Touch Controls for adjusting everything from climate to the premium stereo system’s volume.

We are often reminded to buckle up for safety and apparently, Volvo has been known to adhere to this reminder. In fact, Volvo is known for inventing the 3-point seatbelt way back in 1958 and has since become a standard seatbelt in most cars we see today.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the most important lifesaving device in automotive safety: the 3-point seatbelt. Patented in 1959, the 3-point safety belt has saved more than one million lives and was introduced in the Volvo Amazon (120) and PV 544 in the Nordic markets. Volvo thus became the first car maker in the world to equip its cars with 3-point safety belts as standard.

It is the safety belt’s ability to keep the occupant in the seat that is of crucial importance. All told, the belt reduces the risk of fatalities and serious injuries from collisions by about 50 percent. Seatbelt usage in the US reached its highest rate in 2008, with 83 percent of front-seat occupants buckling up.
