Collisions and accidents are events which cannot be foreseen. And for some vehicles, this is lacking, particularly if they have already been set off or worse, absent. Today, car safety includes ensuring that your car is equipped with these airbags. And for the cars that don’t have one, you don’t have to spend to get a new one installed. If you are resourceful enough, you may be lucky to get an airbag that is safe to reuse.

“The use of these evaluated components is a cost-effective option for a consumer,” said Michael E. Wilson, Executive Vice President of ARA, “but, more importantly, extensive research and years of experience have proven them as a safe alternative as well.”

True enough, the cost of getting a new airbag may not be that cost-friendly. However, there are cars which may no longer be functional which contain these airbags, still whole and usable. Affordable or not, the fact remains that motorists have to be prepared for any untoward road accidents. So if you are wary of their cost, check out the once that can still be reused. It can make a difference in your daily trips.

This is not surprising news anymore. We have always been told that when driving, keep your eyes on the road. But when you come across some scintillating ads that apply an aggressive approach, chances are diverted attention lead to accidents. It is practically expected considering that roads are not empty most of the time.

Responsible Trails America (RTA) today released “Ads, Rhetoric, Behavior,” the first-ever report of its kind to comprehensively examine the effects of aggressive marketing and rider group rhetoric on reckless off-road vehicle (ORV) use. The report found a correlation with the growing subculture of reckless riders who trespass, ruin hunting and fishing, harass livestock, and threaten others using the outdoors.

RTA examined:

• A five year period of TV advertisements by four major ORV manufacturers between January 1, 2004 – January 31, 2009;
• Two decades of public statements by the highest-profile, manufacturer-supported user group, the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC);
• Reported incidents of reckless ORV riders breaking the law and threatening others.

Through its research, RTA concluded that aggressive behavior is being glorified in the commercials that were examined, and defended by often extreme rhetoric used by the BRC.

After getting a failing grade by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for rear collisions, it seems that Toyota has learned its lesson and added some new preventive measures to spare Toyota 4runners from road accidents.

Since 2008, all Toyota 4Runners come equipped with side curtain airbags to help prevent head injuries. They also added front-seat-mounted side-impact airbags thus providing added protection for all 4Runner vehicles.

At least now, Toyota 4Runner owners can look forward to safer motoring since you never know when a freak accident may suddenly occur on the road.

Speed limits are certainly familiar in most parts of the world and while we all know them by mind, a lot has to be said when in comes to actually following them. Road accidents have risen in various states and many of them are caused by going above the speed limit, especially if you see a wide open road ahead of you. But now it looks like a new type of device that aims to enhance the actual speed limits that are set may help curb these accidents and finally remind people that they may be going beyond the speed limit at times they are tempted to see how fast they can go.

Fitting speed-limiting devices in cars could prevent up to 29% of injury accidents on the roads, a report by a Government advisory body said.

The Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) said there would be real benefits in the voluntary introduction of intelligent speed adaption (ISA).

This is a driver-assistance system that brings local speed-limit information into the vehicle.
