Tokyo Motor Show makes way for Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon

The Tokyo Motor Show continues ahead full steam and the latest vehicle on display from Subaru is the Impreza WRX STI Carbon. This vehicle is a tuned version of the regular Impreza WRX STI with a carbon fiber roof, hence its name. Such a light weight roof makes for a lower center of gravity while also reducing its weight making for better handling.

Now, I’m all for the carbon fiber hood but the fact that Subaru plans to ship this vehicle with only a 5-speed automatic transmission makes me a little angry. I mean a rally car really, a rally car without the option for a manual gearbox? What is Subaru thinking?

Special Edition 2010 Denim Kia Soul Pictures Released

Kia Motors America unveiled new pictures of the special edition 2010 Denim Kia Soul. From afar it looks like the same Kia Soul which initially came out but go a bit closer and you may notice the changes for this popular urban passenger vehicle.

Among the highlights of the 2010 Denim Kia Soul Special Edition:

Unique denim exterior color
White side-view mirrors
White 18-inch alloy wheels
Front fender turn signal indicator lights
Wing-type rear spoiler
White racing stripes completing the rally-inspired look.
Audio Upgrade Package (center speaker, subwoofer, external amplifier and speaker lights that pulse to the beat of the music)
An iPod connection cable for full functionality via the radio head unit and steering wheel controls
Carpeted floor mats
Moonroof
Fog lights

The special edition Denim Soul is priced at $17,300 for a five-speed manual transmission and $18,250 for the automatic version.

STI Gallery opens in Tokyo to commemorate 20 years of performance

This year marks the 20th year that Subaru’s performance division, STI, has been operational – Instead of throwing a party, Subaru has decided to open the STI Gallery which is a museum of sorts that showcases everything STI focusing heavily on the racing portion.

WorldCarFans says that the Museum is located at 3-9-6 Osawa, Mitaka, Tokyo and will be open everyday from 9:30am – 7:00pm. The most noteworthy section of the museum would have to be the car exhibits which showcase cars like Colin McRae’s Legacy RS which he used to win the 1993 WRC New Zealand rally.

Sebastien Leob Won 5th Consecutive World Rally Championship

We’ve seen Hamilton get the F1 Championship yesterday but there was another sporting event in the auto world which we shouldn’t overlook. Sebastian Loeb grabbed the 5th consecutive World Rally Championship at the Rally Japan yesterday. Unlike the breath-taking Formula 1 race in Brazil yesterday, Loeb managed to grab the title one race ahead. Congrats to both champions! We look forward for next season!
