It seems that recent reports suggest that the 2010 Audi R8 will feature built-in handwriting recognition technology making it easier to do things like punching in locations in the GPS. The purpose of this is supposedly to do away with unneeded keypads and, like I said above, make input easier.

But with added ease comes decreased safety; using a keypad while driving is a safety hazard itself, but actually having to take out a stylus and write on a screen? Possibly an even bigger safety hazard. I think some company needs to come forth and develop a system that will have accurate voice recognition so you can just say the location without ever having to take your eyes off the road.

We’ll wait until Audi officially confirms this and then let you know.

Electric vehicles were once known to sacrifice power to save gas. Those days are long gone with companies such as Ferrari and BMW gearing up to release high powered electric vehicles.

Next up may be Audi, if recent reports are to be believed that suggest the Automaker is gearing up to debut an R8 ePerformance EV concept at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Don’t get this confused, however, as the reports say this call will be powered by nothing more than high capacity batteries and an electric motor making it a fully all electric vehicle.

Audi has yet to say anything of such a car so we’ll have to wait until September to see if these rumors turn out true.

After Audi’s brand new R8 was seen being driven by Robert Downey Jr., supercar fans everywhere have anxiously awaited the automaker to release a price.

Well it seems the day has come as Audi has let us know that their 525HP 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro will start at $146,000 for a manual gearbox touting model and $155,000 for an R Tronic touting model.

We’re not sure of when exactly the 2010 Audi R8 will drop but Audi gave us word that the first two deliveries will be made to those who won them at charity auctions.

When Iron Man first hit the scene it pleased everyone from action-movie lovers to supercar lovers. Well, Iron Man 2 is currently in production and there seems to be no change.

What you see above is Robert Downey Jr. driving a 525HP V10 Audi R8 Spider on the set of Iron Man 2. The vehicle in question is said to be a pre-production model but we can’t see the design changing much before it actually makes it way to market.

AutoExpress reports that Audi will officially unveil the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show with sales expected in late 2010.

Audi has already shown off the piano they constructed to celebrate their 100th anniversary along with the new car packages but they haven’t stopped there. What you see above is a 10-ton statue of an Audi TT that was constructed a few years ago and made its 2006 debut in Berlin.

Well, Audi has decided to give the statue a permanent home at their Ingolstadt headquarters to further their 100th anniversary celebration.

While the TT is one of Audi’s most recognizable cars I’d much rather have seen a mammoth R8, but that’s just me.

Rumors had been circulating over in Europe which then spilt onto US shores that Audi would be introducing an alternative energy R8 supercar at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year. These rumors pointed towards either an all electric R8 or an extended range EV coupled with a diesel range extender.

Unfortunately, an anonymous Audi rep has said that these rumors about an alternative energy R8 were false. However, the R8 will still be making an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of a gas-guzzlin R8 Spyder.

Then again, once the economy recovers and gas prices skyrocket, anything is possible.

Audi has recently lifted the curtains on their newest foray into the supercar market, the R8 LMS, which you see above and boy does this thing make a killing.

Featuring the sleek look of a supercar with it’s custom bodykit, wing, and everything you would expect, but the real treat comes under the hood. Featuring a 500hp 5.2l V10 engine coupled with a six-speed transmission, the R8 LMS is looking to give cars like the Porsche 911 a run for it’s money.

Topping out at over 200mph and reaching 60mph in under 4 seconds its no wonder the car is priced at over $300,000. Better start saving!
