Car Free Challenge from Zipcar Low-Car Diet

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Diets don’t only cover humans. They are now used for cars as the continued rise in fuel costs and car maintenance continue to bring harder times to the modern consumer. But perhaps it is in the type of lifestyle you follow to which ZipCar issues a challenge through its Low-Car Diet.

Beginning July 15, participants will hand over the keys to their personal cars and commit to living one month without the use of their vehicles. Instead, they will utilize public transportation, increase walking and biking, and be given a membership to Zipcar to access the vehicles when necessary.

Among the perks included in this program include:

  • Five free servings of Berry Chill’s all-natural chilled yogurt each week
  • A one-month gym membership at Equinox
  • Airbrush tans from Ortanic
  • Montague Corporation will provide one lucky Chicago participant with a SwissBike TX

“Chicago’s Low-Car Diet is an opportunity for residents to experience all of the benefits of living car-free and encourages them to rethink their routine and opt for a smarter and healthier lifestyle,” said Mark Norman, president and COO of Zipcar. “Last year’s Low-Car Diet demonstrated that trying a car-free lifestyle can lead to permanent car shedding, and we believe even more Chicagoans will discover the same benefits this year.”

Female Friendly Interactive Training Center 3.0 Launched

Monday, June 15th, 2009

A new version of the Female Friendly Interactive Training Center program has been announced by AskPatty.com, a program that aims to improve online training meant for women on how to attract, sell, retain and increase loyalty among potential customers.

Through this program, women who successfully complete the program can go on and help build, develop and maintain an efficient workforce that should benefit auto retailers and dealerships in handling customers and the business operations more efficiently. At the rate that things are going on these days, it is apparent that such a training module is a big boost, particularly since it is something they can learn online.

“Our goal is to provide training for automotive retail locations that is beneficial to the entire staff to help women have a great experience with all aspects of the car buying and automotive ownership experience. By utilizing this web based platform we can deliver timely video training along with testing to provide the participants with the necessary tools to increase sales and customer satisfaction with women,” according to Jody DeVere, Founder and CEO of AskPatty.com.

RideShare Hope Reward Program Boosts Carpool Alternatives

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Riding to work alone would normally be better for people to turn to commuting rather than bringing their vehicle all by their lonesome. Some people use public transportation although carpooling has long been known to be a good way to get to work on a daily basis.

RideShare for its part has announced a RideShare Rewards program. The RideShare Rewards program is an incentive program for drive-alone commuters to try carpooling. Rideshare Rewards pays new carpoolers up to $100 in gas gift cards.

$100 is a lot and you can imagine how far that could go as far as vehicle fuel is concerned. New carpoolers register at 511.org by clicking on the “Rideshare” link. Throughout a 90-day period, participants submit online commute logs to earn up to $100 in Rideshare Rewards. Now that doesn’t seem so hard and looks like it will be a big boost for people wary of a down economy and rising prices.

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

The Indianapolis 500 is the buzz of the town these days and while the participants are getting ready to race, the matter of truck assistance for towing and recovery needs to be addressed. And this year, Hino Trucks are set to debut to act as support for the Speedway during the 2009 racing season.

“This is the start of a new chapter for Hino in racing,” says Glenn Ellis, Vice President of Marketing for Hino Trucks. “Hino Trucks has been a sponsor of Team Penske Indy Racing League race team for the past five years and our newly increased exposure at the speedway is a unique opportunity to demonstrate Hino product capabilities trackside.”

Race car support is apparent and the need for reliable trucks to do the dirty work is equally important to ensure driver and vehicle safety. Hino Trucks has been around and surely they will be an integral part for the Indianapolis 500, ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ on Memorial Day weekend.
