It was recently announced that the 2-year heavyweight champion Wal-Mart was knocked from the top spot of the Fortune 500 list and replaced with Exxon Mobile.

But why? Well, due to the recession Wal-Mart’s enticing low prices and other marketing ploys helped revenue boom to over $406 billion alone.

However, due to the sharp increase in oil sales Exxon Mobile managed to bank almost $443 billion. I wonder, if and when we make the change to alternative energy, will companies like Exxon Mobile be facing a grim future like the once-great GM?

A company in Stamford Connecticut has developed motor oil made of rendered beef tallow.  Green Earth Technologies started selling the oil last May. The oil is a byproduct of the slaughterhouse industry and uses parts of the animal that would otherwise be discarded. According to CEO Mat Zuckerman, one cow yields 110 quarts of oil. Dr. Zuckerman said he feels this makes the motor oil a truly ‘green’ alternative to petroleum based motor oils, although PETA might have a bit of a beef with that view.

The Green Motor Oil is for small two and four cylinder engines, the kind that are typically used in lawn equipment like weed whackers and lawn mowers, but Zuckerman has grander long term plans. “We could make all the motor oil the country needs from 50,000 cows a day,” he said. ”It doesn’t have to be made of petroleum.” Green Oil is currently available at Home Depot and other stores and is currently in the process of being certified for automobile use.

What’s the best Christmas present for your car you say? Well a $35 oil barrel. Or maybe two? What about 4. The oil price has been going down for quite a while now especially with the whole Detroit 3 Bailout plan mess. The $35 oil barrel isn’t a real thing yet but that’s how much the price might drop in the near future.

The the oil barrel cost started just at $44.76 today but who knows what lies ahead. Regular unleaded gas sells for $1.59 per gallon. When’s the last time you’ve seen that price? What is OPEC going to do about it?

Are you considering a hybrid? It might just be the best decisions you have ever made recently. It looks like the oil price is going up again which is not good!

A barrel of Oil was priced at over $130 in the New York Mercantile Exchange which means the price jumped 24%. The day ended with the oil price up 14.78% at $120.00 for October contract expirations. It’s a tough year and we might see the oil price getting even higher.

So go on then, inspect those hybrid cars and get one. Not that fancy but a whole lot cheaper to drive.
