We’ve seen several vehicles come out of high profile tuning garages lately, namely John Hennessey’s, but Roush engineering has brought something a bit different to the table; a propane powered Mustang drag racer.

The beastly 5.4-liter V8 engine based on the Ford GT engine powering this thing is capable of over 600hp all thanks to propane power.

The racer isn’t actually done yet but they plan on having it ready to race in the 2010 NMRA competition. However, we will get a glimpse of it sometime this week during the SEMA show, but that car will be based on a 2005 Mustang, not a 2010.

Vehicle color seems to be playing an important role for consumer buying preference and it looks like Ford will be giving in to the trend. While they have offered the usual array of colors for other Ford vehicle models such as the 2010 Mustang and the Ford F-150. These cars for example came out with unusual colors like Grabber Blue (2010 Mustang) and Molten Orange (Ford F-150). And the response was positive enough to push Ford towards offering their 2010 Ford Fiesta in two color variants, Bright Magenta and Lime Squeeze which will come out next Summer.

As to why these two colors were chosen, sales agents have proven their impact to the public. They have been going around in Fiestas with these two colors and the attention is quite astounding. Likewise, placing into consideration that vehicle color has become among the top 10 reason for purchasing a car, these two new color variants may yet spell the difference between sales and flops for their 2010 Ford Fiesta vehicles once they start coming out.

Sure, the Chevy Camaro has outsold the Ford Mustang for the 3rd consecutive month but the same could not be said of the Toyota Prius. In fact, Kicking Tires reports that the Prius sold more than the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger combined.

Those numbers being 18,886, 8,680, 6,289 and 1,132 for the Prius, Camaro, Mustang and Challenger, respectively.

Now this shouldn’t come as a surprise to, well, anyone and will most likely prove itself to be a reoccurring trend considering rising gas prices and the fact that the Prius sips gas while the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger guzzle it.

Our friends over at Autoblog have recently compiled a list of monthly sales number and have come to an interesting conclusion; the Chevy Camaro has outsold the Ford Mustang for the third month in a row.

For the month of August, the Camaro sold 8,680 while the Mustang sold 6,289, sure it’s not the biggest gap every, but it’s certainly something. If you weren’t aware, this is such a big deal because normally Ford’s Mustang would outsell the Camaro pretty handidly.

Perhaps the Camaro’s appearance in Transformers had something to do with it?

While most car fanatics who watched Transformers have been focused on the Chevy Camaro (aka Bumblebee), others have had their eye on the ridiculously mean looking police car made from a 2005 Saleen Mustang.

Pictured above is said Barricade Mustang which recently sold for $36,000 over at icollector.com. For the record, this is one of the cars that was used actually used in the Transformers movie with only 2 similar cars in existence. Now all we have to do is wait for Saleen to release a special edition Transformers Barricade Mustang and we’ll be all set.

Hey, it was done with the Camaro, so why not the Mustang too?

In a monumental decision, Ford has decided to introduce their Mustang to the NASCAR racing circuit. The car will make it’s debut as the 2010 Nationwide series and included above is a rendering of what the car wil look like.

Below is a quote from NASCAR President Mike Helton speaking on the Mustang’s NASCAR debut:

“We’re excited about the new car in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and particularly the new body styles such as the Ford Mustang. It’s going to be one good-looking race car.”

And director of Ford North America Motorsports, Brian Wolfe, speaking of the same matter:

“We’re excited about Mustang coming to NASCAR. It’s the most successful product nameplate in racing history, and it seems only right that it should be coming to the most popular form of racing in North America.”

Saleen Performance Vehicles has recently come forth to show off their brand new 2010 435S Mustang, pictured above.

As you can see, it’s not very aesthetically different from a stock 2010 Mustang but who cares? It’s what’s under the hood that really matters. Under said hood you’ll find a 4.6 liter V8 engine with 435HP and 425 pounds of torque and a 5-speed manual transmission. The car will have upgraded handling thanks to its specially tuned suspension and 14-inch front end brakes.

Saleen has yet to give us any official word on pricing or availability but you can probably expect to it cost somewhere right around $40,000.

Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang

Forty-five years after he first introduced the original Ford Mustang, auto industry’s Lee Iacocca announced a new version of the celebrated muscle car – the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang. It features a unique Mustang fastback look, only 45 of the “2009½” special edition cars will be assembled, each finished in a silver hue choosen by Iacocca. This the Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang is a joint effort by Iacocca, designer Michael Leone, and coachbuilder Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters.

The car is largely hand-built and features some unique elements such as the sunken headlights and a slanted grill.  The car will be available with either a normally-aspirated 4.6L V8 rated at 320hp or an optional supercharged version that delivers 400hp. The car will first appear in late July at the Southern Californian Galpin Ford dealership.

Ford has recently released a press statement detailing a popular new option that will make its way into 2010 Mustangs everywhere; glass roofs. No, not a sun roof but an actual glass roof.

For $1,995 2010 Mustang buyers will be able to opt for the “factory-installed panoramic glass roof” which apparantly filters 90% of the sun’s rays. This special technology will give the illusion that you are wearing SPF 50 so you don’t have to worry about the health hazards of being in direct sunlight for too long.

Ford has recently announced at their third annual Ford Racing Invitational that they will sell the body shell of their 2010 Mustang to anyone who wants it. These shells are going to be made available so racers who want to make their cars look like Ford Mustangs will be able to do so without ripping apart an already assembled 2010 Mustang.

Ford says that you will be able to order these shells in July and then recieve them in December after they are build in late-fall. The automaker also says that they have intentions to continue to offer these shells annually following the same order and build schedule.

No word on pricing yet but we’ll keep you updated.

Roush 2010 Mustang

Roush announced they will offer three versions based on the 2010 Ford Mustang. Roush will offer 3 versions at launch. Prices will range from $34,847 for the Stage 1 model to a starting price of $43,051 for the 427R. This will be the fifth generation of Mustangs tuned by Roush. The first launch was in 1994. Since that time, more than 15,000 have been produced.

This year, Roush expects production to total nearly 2,000 units. Chairman Jack Roush said his 2010 model focused on capturing performance from previous cars but still included modern technologies. “It needs to be respectful and have a linkage back to the Mustang’s history and pedigree,” Roush said.
