Subaru’s first World Rally Car, the Subaru Imprezza WRC which debuted at the Rally Monte Carlo in 1997, is reportedly up for sale at a dedicated pre-owned Prodrive-built rally cars. The going rate is said to be at £85,000 or 241,000 NZ.

The 1997 Impreza WRC, chassis number PRO-WRC-97-001, was the very first car built under the new WRC regulations introduced in 1997. During the season, this chassis was used by Colin McRae, Pierro Liatti and Kenneth Erikkson before being rebuilt and sold to a Prodrive customer in 1998. It has now been fully restored to its original condition by McKinstry Motorsport in Ireland and liveried as it was at the Rally of Finland in 1997.

A further seven former works Impreza World Rally Cars and 17 Prodrive Impreza Group Ns are also currently for sale via the new site. Prices range from £50,000 ($142,000 NZ) for a 2005 Prodrive Impreza Group N to nearly £350,000 ($994,000 NZ) for an early 2008 specification Impreza WRC.

The 2009 Jetta TDI Cup season is set to get underway. After initially announcing 9 of the 10 venues of the said meet, the 10th and last venue was finally revealed. The last one is the Miller Motorsports Park to the list of venues that will host its SCCA Pro Racing-sanctioned events.

The Jetta TDI Cup’s second season will begin on April 24 at VIRginia International Raceway. During the season, 30 young, undiscovered drivers (between ages 16-26) will compete in ten events on eight road courses around North America in identical factory-prepared Jetta TDI’s powered by clean diesel. The series champion will win $100,000. In addition, each driver competing in the series will earn a Pro Racing license from SCCA at the conclusion of the season.

Last season’s Jetta TDI Cup Champion, Josh Hurley used his opportunity to propel his racing career into a full-time position. Hurley was signed by APR Motorsport to compete in the 2009 Koni Sports Car Challenge Championship, a division of the Grand-Am Series. In addition, last year’s runner-up, Liam Kenney also secured a full-time professional ride in the 2009 ADAC Formula Masters Championship in Europe driving for Ma-Con Motorsport.
