Sure, it’s not a car but it’s a breakthrough in engineering technology and that’s all that matters — It was recently made known that Orange County Choppers will begin work on a hybrid engine to be used in a motorcycle. According to Paul Teutel, Sr. OCC’s  goal is to create a motorbike “capable of traveling farther, without refueling or recharging, than any other OCC bike in history”.

Of course, those who watch American Chopper will be among the first to hear of the bike as it will be making its first official appearence on the show sometime in 2010.

Sure, it’s not a car but it gets you from point A to B and doesn’t require any fossil fuels which is OK in my book. What you see above is Brammo’s Enertia all electric motorcycle that has recently been put up for sale at select Best Buy stores on the West Coast.

If you haven’t been following this particular vehicle, the Enertia will start at $11,995 and feature a 50 mile range per charge in addition to a 55mph+ top speed.

According to Autoblog, all you need is a drivers license with motorcycle endorsement to test drive one of these bad boys.

According to Myers Motors, this is a car, but due to its classification (because of its three wheels) it is considered a motorcycle. So which is which? Well regardless, the good news is that this company has gotten able investment backers as Jumpstart Ventures Investment has committed $250,000 to the manufacturing of electric vehicles.

The car is christened the NmG (No More Gas), a single passenger vehicle that can travel on highways and can reach speeds of up to 75 mph. One charge allows it to run 60 miles. If you look at it, the NmG may be ideal for 80 percent of Americans who commute to and from work alone and accommodate nearly half of Americans’ travel needs beyond work, which include errands and other day-to-day activities done solo as well.

JumpStart Venture Partner Mark Smith will be working with the company and is excited about its position in the market. “There is a race underway to create cost competitive all-electric vehicles and the Myers Motors team has an incredible head start,” said Smith. “Not only did they inherit a legacy of market knowledge and design from the predecessor company, they are already producing and selling vehicles. And the two-passenger vehicle (called NmG2) currently under development will provide Myers Motors with a significant competitive advantage in this quickly emerging market.”

Car geeks and motorists are sure to wish that they could be at the second edition of the Barbican Turbo made possible by Barbican and United Business Media. This latest event promises 3 days of high octane, tire-shredding action and festival features.

Barbican Turbo: the Ultimate Auto Fest launched to an attendance of over 19,000 visitors in 2008. This year’s event set to take place from the 8th – 10th of October will aim to be bigger and better.

“Barbican Turbo was a great experience and the biggest custom car show I have ever seen. It gathered car lovers from all over…and that’s what made it so unique…the event was fantastic!” said Antoine Waheed, Winner of the Best on a Budget category of the Top 100 competition, 2008.

In a move to perhaps help address the growing number of public commuters, Bangalore, BMTC has reportedly made a purchase order for 260 Volvo Buses in India. Bangalore, BMTC, already operates more than 300 Volvo buses in Bangalore and these buses have radically changed the view of what it is like to travel with city buses in India. For example, the buses are air-conditioned and feature low floors for fast and easy boarding and exiting.

“Surveys show that 60% of the passengers in these buses previously traveled in their own car or by motorcycle,” related Akash Passey, Managing Director of Volvo Buses in India. “For many Indian cities, the goal is to have more people use mass transit and, consequently, this requires new, modern buses.”

Volvo Buses has also received orders for 120 Volvo 9400 inter-city coaches to the State of Karnataka, in which Bangalore in the capital and to the State of Maharasthra, in which Mumbai is the capital. The orders are from customers already operating Volvo coaches and who have favorable experiences of them.

We catch a glimpse of the future with this potential hovercraft unveiled by Audi. The futuristic two-seater flying sportscar is inspired by both motorcycle and jet design, for maximum performance as well as safety.

The name of course comes from its resemblance to a gray reef shark. Its streamlined design, sharp nose and fin-like rear lower spoiler contribute to the vehicle’s “underwater” appearance. Both the headlights and taillights are made by transparent tubes which integrate LED units, while the somewhat cramped interior features sport seats integrated in the cockpit structure.

It is a sad day for the Miller Motorsports Park and Utah Jazz organizations as their owner, Larry Miller died last February 20 due to diabetes complications at the age of 64.

Miller Motorsports Park, in Toole, Utah, was originally intended to be a private driving course for Miller. But support from enthusiasts and automakers expanded the project’s scope into an auto, motorcycle and kart racing complex.

Miller got started in the car business as a dealership parts department manager in 1966. He opened a Toyota dealership in suburban Salt Lake City in 1979. Miller’s dealership group ranked No. 10 on the Automotive News 2008 list of the top 125 dealership groups in the United States, with 47,848 new retail unit sales and revenues of $2.86 billion.

Here’s a concept motorcycle I don’t necessarily want to drive. It looks interesting enough, I’ll give you that. But interesting is not necessarily good.

Barend Hemmes is the creator of this bike. The bike is six feet long and it’s built with parts from a 1,200cc Buell 97 S3 Thunderbolt. Maximum speed is 50 mph for now but a future model might be significantly upgraded. At that speed you just have a cool looking scooter.

It’s not everyday that we see BMW launch a motorcycle that’s ready to race. The S 1000 RR World Superbike was shown at the Intermot in Cologne, Germany. Although it seems designed with racing in mind, the bike will also go to massive production for the public. By massive I mean the 1,000 units which are said to arrive in 2009.

The S 1000 RR has an inline four-cylinder engine mounted transversly in the frame. Together with the standard chain drive this bike will get you some 150 horsepower to play with. No news about pricing yet, but we’ll keep you updated on the matter.

I don’t know if you are aware or not but Cologne, Germany is the place to be right now. That’s where this year’s Intermot show is being held. Intermot if of course one of the shows for motorcycle lovers.

And what better place for Honda to launch its V4 motorcycle concept. Honda is working on a new V4 engine which might bring us oval pistons which would allow more valves and larger combustion chambers.

The design itself is great. I wouldn’t mind having such a bike myself. I don’t know when such a concept will actually be sent to production. What do you think?
