How safe is your child with you when you are driving? This is perhaps something that many least pay attention to and apparently Ohio will put a stomp on that by October 7 when it implements the Ohio New Booster Seat Law.

But don’t tell that to Jacki Dalonzo, injury prevention director for the Columbian County Health Department. She isn’t waiting for October to start educating drivers on how to make sure that their kids are properly snugged up in cars to prevent mishaps or injuries for kids.

“I want all of the children to be safe,” said Jacki DaLonzo, injury prevention director for the Columbiana County Health Department.

The new booster seat law extends the child restraint law by requiring all children 4 years old to 8 years old or up to 4 feet 9 inches tall to be in a booster seat. The law also requires that children 8 years old to 15 years old or taller than 4 feet 9 inches to be restrained with a seat belt, no matter whether they’re riding in the front or back.

To some of us this is not something new but improving the guidelines should more or less put a line and reference guide for people to be more aware of potential dangers while in the car, particularly the passengers and children.
