
Cash for Clunkers may be dead and gone but that doesn’t mean the government is going to stop giving out incentives for those who chose the green route. The latest announcement is regarding the Mercedes-Benz S400 which has the ability to net you up to $1,150 worth of tax credits.
The reason for this incentive is the IRS’ Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit which gives out tax credit for energy efficient cars. And, since the S400 features a whole slew of energy efficient technologies like regenerative braking and a lithium-ion battery in additino to its EPA rating of 19mpg city and 26mpg highway it makes sense why you would get such a credit.

Mercedes-Benz is currently considering whether or not to start making its popular C-Class sedans right in Vance, Alabama. The plant is already responsible for making the M, GL and R-Class so the German giant could definitely make the C-Class at Vance too. Let’s not forget that Mercedes poured $290 million into the expansion of the plant earlier this year but never said what the purpose of the investment was.
