In what is perhaps another effort to jack up car sales and entice customer interest, Chrysler has announced the return of their leasing options for all 2010 models of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge through their long-time ally and preferred lender GMAC financial services. With the additional financing options now back in harness, potential car buyers can now look forwards to broader options as far as buying new cars under the Chrysler brand.

Leasing will start on September 17 for all the 2010 Chrysler models. Among the featured vehicles for lease up to September 30 include:

• Chrysler Town & Country
• Dodge Grand Caravan, Ram 1500 and Journey
• Jeep Wrangler and Liberty

Though the influx of varied SUVs have become a growing demand for people today, the Jeep Wrangler is still a vehicle surviving the crunch. Nothing typifies the measure of American muscle for hardcore riders other than what the Jeep Wrangler has brought and for that, it has been included in the 10 Coolest Cars for 2009.

“It doesn’t get any more all-American than a Jeep Wrangler,” said Dutch Mandel – Editor and Associate Publisher, AutoWeek. “And with its removable top and off-roading ability, you can drive it anywhere and have a ball doing it.”

“More than 68 years ago, Jeep created the SUV category with the introduction of the Wrangler,” said Mike Accavitti – Director Brand Marketing, Chrysler LLC. “Today, our Jeep Wrangler remains an icon, set apart by its purpose-built design and ultimate capability.”

Indeed, it is still an icon in the vehicle industry and despite the introduction of similar vehicles of its nature, it is apparent that the Jeep Wrangler will continue to live up to its billing and legend as a reliable SUV to have.

Chrysler has donated to vehicles to aid in the rescue efforts of the victims of the earthquake that hit Italy. Chrysler, in cooperation with its supplier, VM Motori S.p.A., has donated a Jeep Liberty (Cherokee model outside of North America) and a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to the Italian Civil Protection Department (Dipartimento della Protezione Civile).

The Jeep vehicles were being used for diesel emissions testing and engine development at VM Motori, a diesel engine manufacturing company located in Cento, Italy.

“Chrysler LLC donated a Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler to the Italian Civil Protection Department so it has the additional resources it needs for response interventions and initiatives to assist the people of the Abruzzo region after this devastating disaster,” said John T. Bozzella – Senior Vice President, External Affairs and Public Policy/President, The Chrysler Foundation.

Chrysler and A123 Systems come together to develop advanced battery technology and also provide new employment opportunities. Facilitated by an agreement with Chrysler LLC and its commitment to introduce production electric-drive vehicles starting in 2010, A123Systems has received a $100 million tax grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to build a full-scale battery manufacturing facility in Michigan. The new plant will bring additional high-tech jobs to Michigan, and will help Chrysler achieve its leadership goals in electric vehicle development and production.

“Today’s recognition of this Michigan-based partnership represents tremendous forward thinking by the government, and demonstrates how government can greatly affect the development of – and costs associated with – this type of advanced technology,” said John Bozzella, Senior Vice President – External Affairs and Public Policy. “Chrysler is proud to participate in this effort that will bring high-technology jobs to Michigan, and will help solidify American innovation in electric vehicles – ultimately leading to more advanced fuel-efficient vehicles for the American consumer and the environment.”

Last week, Chrysler LLC announced A123Systems as the supplier for energy storage systems for Chrysler’s first-generation ENVI Range-extended Electric Vehicles and battery only Electric Vehicles.

The heart of ENVI’s battery system is a scalable battery module, as demonstrated in ENVI’s five electric-drive vehicles showcased at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The five vehicles included the Dodge Circuit EV, Jeep Wrangler EV, Jeep Patriot EV, Chrysler Town & Country EV and the Chrysler 200C EV concept. At the reveal, Chrysler announced its intention to bring the company’s first production electric vehicle to market in 2010.

Despite walking on thin ice as far as finances are concerned, Chrysler has gotten two awards for its two vehicle lines, the Dodge Ram and the Jeep Wrangler. The all-new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 was named “Work Truck of the Year” and the 2009 Jeep(R) Wrangler received “Best New Car for Off-roaders.”

Award winners were selected by Cars.com’s expert reviewers and editorial staff from the field of editors’ picks in the Cars.com Lifestyle Buying Guide. Vehicles in this guide first had to be selected as Cars.com Best Bets, meaning they were among the model-year’s best offerings in their segment. From there, the team tapped into knowledge drawn from their time with each vehicle in order to decide which best met the criteria and intent of the lifestyle category at hand.
