Jaguar seems to be working on a number of hybrid vehicles these days, one of which is an all-electric XJ, according to Autoblog. The car reportedly has a 145kW electric motor producing 194 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. The car has a petrol engine used to recharge and the car can run 600 miles on a charge/tank, with a combined fuel economy of 47 mpg.

New rumors suggest that the new 2011 Jaguar XJ will be priced at a hefty £53,775 GBP in Britain, which amounts to almost $88,000 USD. The “Diesel Luxury Model” will cost £90,455 while the “Premium Luxury Model” will top out at £64,355. Expect the US cars to cost less than the actual difference between the Pound and the Dollar, as the UK has lots of taxes, especially on luxury cars like Jaguar.   • 5.0-liter XJ and XJL Supercharged (470hp) with a $87,500 and $90,500 MSRP, respectively

Jaguar has recently made it known that they are prepping to release their own plug-in electric powered vehicle to keep up with the competition from other automakers.

The car will apparently be a modified version if the Jaguar XJ sedan and is expected to be in showrooms by 2011. The electric XJ is said to share some similarities with GM’s Volt in the sense that it will be electric powered but there will be a gas alternative when the electricity runs low.

Jaguar is said to be working with Lotus Engineering and Caparo to develop the car’s powertrain.
