A number of concept cars and prototypes were shown off at the 2010 North American International Auto Show, providing consumers a sneak peak on what the world of motoring has in store for them. Notable automakers were on hand to show off their concept vehicles such as the MINI which showed off its Beachcomber concept, Hyundai with its first hybrid and GMC with the Granite.
Mercedes, Ford, Toyota and Volkswagen also showed off their design and engineering chops at the show. To see what went on over there, check out the video below.
It’s always interesting to catch what someone thinks of a car, especially when we get to see lots of exciting footage of cars tearing around a test track. And when the guy driving the car says that it pretty much requires you to forgive a company all their past mistakes, well, that’s the kind of thing that just makes your eyes pop.
Today we’re watching the Hyundai Genesis Coupe go tearing around the test track, and it’s absolutely amazing. It does zero to sixty in a surprisingly fleet 5.8 seconds.
You’ll pay for this kind of power, though, shelling out thirty grand new or twenty three used for it (prices are in US dollars), so if you’re interested in this sucker, better save up or have a good credit score.
But watching that Hyundai Genesis tear around that track, with that kind of horsepower, makes me very surprised, and keeps the Hyundai in the “well worth watching” category.
No, that doesn’t mean that this is a video about how to wash your bulldozer, but rather, a video of an excavator being used to wash a Hyundai. Specifically, a Hyundai IX35.
The video begins comically, as though the excavator is playing a beleaguered parent chasing its rambunctious tot of a Hyundai around trying to get it ready for bath time.
After a while, the clearly exhausted Hyundai stops long enough for the excavator to load up its scoop with soapy water and dump it all over the Hyundai. Now, this alone might be funny enough, but where the video goes from funny to plain old amazing comes when the excavator is given charge of a scrub brush mounted on a short pole.
Yes, you will actually get to see the excavator exercise such shockingly fine control that it will scrape suds off a Hyundai IX35 with its front scoop.
This is the kind of thing you have to see to believe–lucky thing we’ve got it directly below.
Hyundai Motors of America has unveiled the official pricing for its all-new 2010 Tucson CUV. The 2010 Hyundai Tucson CUV pricing will start at $18,995 for a well-equipped GLS six speed manual transmission model and $24,235 for the top and limited edition models. Among the striking features of the Tucson SUV include an European design, roomy cabin and an eco-efficient Theta II 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering up to 31 MPG. Other perks includes a touch screen navigation, a panoramic sunroof and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system. The 2010 Hyundai Tucson CUV is expected to be available at dealers this month.
Considering that the standard for automobiles in the United States will be 35.5 mpg in 2016, it stands to reason that all cars will have progressively better gas mileage by then. So who has the best mileage? Believe it or not, it is Hyundai, with 30.1 mpg average. The runner-up is Honda, and then Volkswagen, Toyota, and Kia.
We have seen a lot of cars out in the market and apparently we will not get the chance to drive most of them. Unless of course you are blessed with a fat income, you can always resort to the next best thing; video games! This is the case for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe which has been included in the Forza Motorsport 3 game lineup. So while you may not necessarily feel the power and comfort this car can bring, grab those Xbox 360 game consoles and load up the Forza Motorsport 3 for some challenging and realistic driving in the digital world.
This is also another strategy that should test how popular the 300-horsepower Genesis Coupe is in the market. Other than measuring the target market, it provides another dimension towards marketing the popular car from Hyundai. Fans will be given the opportunity to test drive the most realistic experience ever as “Forza Motorsport 3″ makes a public appearance at the Hyundai stand at the SEMA Show from Nov. 3 – 6, 2009 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
What you see above is the Hennessey Hyundai Genesis Carbon Coupe, a vehicle created by John Hennessey and students of his recently launched Tuner School.
This vehicle features 500hp and 465 pounds-per-feet of torque thanks to a turbocharger, new high flow fuel injectors and a plehtora of other upgrades. The creators say the vehicle can reach 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and complete a 1/4 mile in just 12.5 seconds.
Want it? Too bad as it’ll probably never see public production.
Hyundai has recently come forth today to let us know the specs of their all new 2010 Accent.
This vehicle will be powered by a 1.6-liter engine capable of 110 horsepower and 106 pounds-per-feet of torque. Transmission wise you can opt for either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Autoblog reports that the models with 5-speed manual transmission will feature an EcoShift light that will tell drives when they are reaching maximum fuel efficiency.
As for a price, well the base model starts at less that $10,000 while the most luxury laden version will reach as high as $16,995.
The Tokyo Motor Show officially opens on October 24, hosting a wide roster of automakers to show off their latest vehicles set to be released in the market. And just when many people were looking forward to the event, Hyundai has begged off from the Tokyo Motor Show despite having paid a non-refundable reservation fee of $122,000.
There were no definitive reasons given for Hyundai’s pull out but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it has something to do with expenses. If Hyundai participated, they would have to address other costs that include outlays, staffing and other support materials for any new model they would be unveiling as well as the space rental for the duration of the event. as well as the space rental for the duration of the event.
With their pull-out, the Tokyo Motor Show looms like a showdown among Japan’s familiar car brands. Only two other foreign car companies remain for the event and these are Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen and Lotus. With 3 weeks to go, will they stay or will they go?
If all goes well with the technical evaluation of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, we may soon see the European and UK release of the rear-wheeled drive coupe. This was revealed today as Hyundai Coupe has been put on an extensive evaluation program to determine the feasibility of holding an European launch for the said vehicle.
Although the top dogs over at Hyundai are convinced that the said Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be as successful in the UK markets, the best way is to approach it the proper way to avoid investing in a market where the car would be snubbed. Among the factors up for consideration are that of its right-handed navigation control and that of how the Hyundai Genesis Coupe would fare on UK roads. It looks like the Hyundai technical team have a lot of work to do if Hyundai is to penetrate a new market which could add to their list of Hyundai vehicle drivers.
