2010 Ford Fusion Earns Nod As Top Safety Pick

Friday, March 27th, 2009

We all know that the 2010 Ford Fusion is perhaps one of the best fuel efficient cars in the market today and after earning the Top Safety Pick from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, consumers are bound to swoon all over this efficient midsized car all the more.

Ford is the only automotive brand to offer two hybrids that have segment-leading fuel efficiency, “Top Safety Pick” awards and exclusive safety technologies. The Fusion Hybrid offers 41 mpg city while the Escape Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient SUV on the market and also garnered a “Top Safety Pick.”

The new Fusion Hybrid’s class-leading fuel economy bests the Toyota Camry hybrid by 8 mpg in the city. It also features Ford’s innovative SmartGauge with EcoGuide, which coaches hybrid drivers to maximize fuel efficiency.

In addition, the new Fusion and Milan offer three fuel-sipping gas engine options, including the Duratec 2.5-liter I-4 and enhanced 3.0-liter V-6 and 3.5-liter V-6 Duratec engines. Fusions equipped with the 2.5-liter I-4 engine are expected to deliver at least 3 mpg better on the highway than the Honda Accord and 2 mpg better than the Toyota Camry. The 3.5-liter V-6 powers the all-new Fusion Sport model.

Honda Earns Energy Star from EPA

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Honda has been finding ways to make it through the economic issues and apparently they are on the right track. Honda’s auto plants in Ohio and Alabama have received Energy Star awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for advances in curbing energy use during the production of passenger cars and light trucks.

For the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2008, Honda’s average CO2 emissions per vehicle produced in North America were at their lowest levels since the company began measuring results in 2001. The EPA bases the award points on the amount of energy needed to produce an automobile, and includes factors such as vehicle size and production volume.

In Ohio, Honda of America Mfg., Inc.’s Marysville Auto Plant and East Liberty Auto Plant each earned top energy performance scores of 100 points. Both plants continue to find new ways to reduce the use of electricity and natural gas. Honda has focused most of these activities on more efficient use of lighting, chiller systems, motors, metering, heating, compressed air and air conditioning.

The Marysville plant produces the Honda Accord sedan and coupe, and the Acura TL and RDX, while the East Liberty plant manufactures the Honda CR-V and Element.

2009 Honda Accord

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Honda has always been known to deliver quality cars, both inside and out. And with news that the 2009 Honda Accord has become a hit with Arizona natives is nothing really surprising. The Honda Accord proves to be one of the most popular and practical car choices among Arizona drivers.

In its January 1983 issue, Car and Driver chose the Accord to be on their first-ever 10Best Cars list. In their 1983 article, they called the Accord, “a remarkable automobile from a remarkable automobile… company” In their January 2009 issue, Car and Driver said, “it’s clear; 27 years later, that praise still applies” The Accord has gone on to win an additional twenty-three 10Best awards.

Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com has honored Honda with its 2009 Best Resale Value Award in the Brand category and Kiplinger’s gave the 2008 Accord the winning Best in Class title in the Sedan category for vehicles $25,000-$30,000. The Accord took home top honors for V-6 performance, fuel saving engine technology and a longer interior cabin.

Honda Accord 2.4 i-VTEC Ex

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

The latest edition of the Honda Accord is perhaps the smoothest and sweeter version ever to be introduced by the German-based manufacturers. The new Honda Accord 2.4 i-VTEC Ex comes with 2.4 petrol engine paired with an automatic gearbox.

To most Europeans, a big automatic saloon with a largish four-cylinder petrol engine looks like a recipe for roughness, limp performance and poor fuel economy. So it is all to Honda’s credit that this new Accord promises a smooth and swift ride important to most car buyers today.

2008 Ford Falcon Awarded NZ Car of the Year

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Despite being produced on a tight budget, the 2008 Ford Falcon has earned the nod as New Zealand’s Car of the Year for its excellent performance handling, value for money and ease of operation.

The FG-series Falcon was one of nine finalists for this year’s New Zealand Car of the Year award, which is open to new models launched in New Zealand during the 12 months prior to 1 November 2008. The others were the Fiat 500, Honda Accord Euro, Hyundai i30, Jaguar XF, Mazda 6, Nissan X-Trail, Subaru Forester and Volkswagen Tiguan.

Not many people are aware of the existence of the Ford Falcon, an economical car with home and quality finish that can appeal to any car critic today. Garnering the award is an achievement in itself and it certainly helps boost the Ford brand as well.
