At the Auto Mobil International in Leipzig Volkswagen will introduce a fuel efficient and jazzy new Golf GTD. Its power comes from a 2-liter turbocharged diesel that develops 170 horsepower and uses in average only 5.3-liters of gasoline per 44.3 mpg and goes 0-62 mph in 8.1 seconds with a top speed 138 mph.
GTD customers can choose between a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 6-speed DSG automatic. The exterior is very close to the GTI – bumper, grille and headlights are the same. The rear side is different as it has dual exhausts on the left side, not on the left and right like the GTI. Sales of the Golf GTD will start beginning of May and pricing will be announced soon.
