A version of the CT3 is competing for the Progressive Automotive X Prize in the Alternative Vehicle Class. The “CT3-S” is specifically designed and engineered to be capable of speeds up to 80 miles per hour yet delivering the energy equivalent of over 100 miles per gallon.

Daimler will be putting the icing on the cake of a successful five year run for its A-Class F-Cell powered vehicle with its participation at the Hydrogen Road Tour 09 at California today. This nine-day road trip is a great way to showcase the F-Cell hydrogen vehicle, competing alongside other car manufacturers showcasing their own hydrogen powered vehicle programs.

Fuel cell technology is key to emission-free driving in the future, as it is the only emission-free technology equally suited for both short and long distance mobility. Bringing fuel cell technology to market requires efficient cooperation between political decision-makers, the oil industry, the energy sector, and other potential investors.

The call for alternative fuel to run vehicles is apparent. And armed with a 5-year backing on its fuel cell technology, Daimler surely has the lead in convincing people on which company has the inside track, having a tried and tested car that has been around for the past five years.

So you may say, regardless of the outcome of this tour, Daimler will be up there among the choices of fuel cell cars that may come out in the future.

According to Japanese automotive magazine Mag-X, Honda is finalising the design and details for the 2012 Civic, and if the magazine is to be believed, we’ll see different sedan, coupe and hatch versions for different markets, much the same as with the current model.

The buzz around is that the new Honda Civic will come out with a hybrid version as well as a 1.5 petrol mill. This picks off from the line of Honda vehicles where the Insight is gaining ground. So if that were to be the case, it only makes sense that Honda will consider unveiling hybrid versions for their vehicles. In fact it would not be surprising if all their vehicles would suddenly come out with their separate and independent hybrid versions in the future.

The study revealed that Ford Motor Company was the top auto advertiser in January with 481 million display ad impressions, followed by Toyota with 384 million and General Motors with 316 million. The top ten auto manufacturers accounted for 58 percent of the 1.9 billion ad impressions in the segment, with the “Big Three” U.S. automakers (Ford, GM and Chrysler) accounting for 26 percent.

Automotive advertisers delivered nearly 2 billion ad impressions and reached 120 million people, or 65 percent of the total Internet audience, in January 2009. This represents a decline of 43 percent in online ad impressions for the auto industry versus January 2008.

“The collective online advertising strategy of automakers shows a low level of online advertising for their green models and higher levels for their heavier gas consumption vehicles,” said Jeff Hackett, comScore senior vice president. “While SUVs may still drive a larger share of sales for the automakers, comScore research has shown that online is an effective brand-building medium and now might be a good time to begin shifting allocation of dollars and mindshare towards the models of the future.”
