The first we saw of Audi’s e-Tron concept car was at the Frankfurt Motor Show where it remained nothing more than a concept. Now, Audi has come forth to tell Autoweek that the 4,500nm torque of beast is on the drawing board to become a production vehicle. There’s not telling on when we will be seeing it at dealerships but Audi of America Johan de Nysschen reportedly expects pre-production models within the next 2 years.

For those who don’t know, the e-tron is a fully electric vehicle capable of a outputting 313hp (230kW), 4,500nM of torque (over 3,300 pounds-per-foot) and will hit 62 miles from a stand still in just 4.8 seconds and reach top speeds of 124 mph. Best of all, on a full charge the e-tron will be able to travel a full 154 miles.

The Aston Martin Rapide made its debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show where attendees gasped at the car’s beautifully sleek and sexy, yet professional design. However, Aston Martin has evidently deemed the amount of hype surrounding the car insufficient and have gone ahead and released the above promotional video showing off the car’s development.

As you can see, the car was meticulously designed and tested before Aston Martin gave it to production go ahead. Unfortunately, due to its sure to be high price the chances of us ever getting a chance to drive this beauty remain slim to none.

What you see above may appear to be a 2-door hatchback but instead it is the SEAT Leon Cupra R 4-door hatchback (yes, look closely there are actually 4 doors) that was recently showcased at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Other than its awesome green paint job this vehicle utilizes a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing 265hp and a sprint from 0-60mph in a none-too-bad 6.1 seconds. What’s even better, while maintain a decent horsepower output the SEAT Leon Cupra R still manages to maintain right around 29mpg.

Couple all of that with 19-inch wheels, low profile tires, R badges and beefy brakes and you have yourself a very interesting vehicle.

Earlier this week Volkswagen took center stage at the Frankfurt Motor Show to show us their extremely futuristic looking diesel-powered L1 concept. They then followed suit and showed us the E-Up! concept, an all electric vehicle which we now know is expected to go into production by 2013.

Well, it seems that VW wasn’t done talking about the L1 concept as they have recently let us know that they expect it to enter production right around the same time as the E-Up! (sometime around 2013) and that it will get 170MPG. This goes along with the previous statement that the L1 will travel 100 kilometers using just 1.38 liters of diesel fuel.

While there’s no telling if the L1 concept will every actually hit the streets, if/when it does it’s sure to look nothing like what is pictured above.

We’ve been hearing of Saab’s 9-5 sedan for some time now but the vehicle has made its official debut today at the Frankfurt Motor Show. There wasn’t much mad eknown that we didn’t already know but for those of you not paying attention, I’ll give  a brief run down of the car’s specs.

The Saab 9-5 will give consumers the option to choose from different engines including a 1.6 liter 180hp, a 2.0 liter 220hp, and a 2.8 liter 6 cylinder twin turbocharged engine. Like I said previously, this is all stuff we already knew however, it was made known today that the car will be hitting European dealerships sometime early next year for an unannounced price.

Another day of the Frankfurt Motor Show means a whole slew of previously unannounced vehicles. The latest of such vehicles is the above pictured Mazda MX-5 Superlight.

As you can probably tell by the title, this car is super light, weighing in at just 2,193. And, thanks to its low weight Mazda was able to squeeze a fuel efficient 4 cylinder 1.8-liter engine capable of 126 hp into the MX-5 coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission. Of course, with such a low weight you’re going to have to sacrifice some luxuries namely, the windshield. But it’s the novelty that counts, right?

Unfortunately for you daring drivers out there, the chances we will ever see the MX-5 Superlight enter production remain slim to none until Mazda tells us otherwise.

What you see above is the recently showcased Porsche 911 Sport Classic, a vehicle that made its debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. This vehicle is essentially an updated version of the normal 911 Coupe and will only see a limited production.

Priced right around $240,000, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic features dual exhaust, 19 inch Fuchs wheels and an engine capable of 403 hp in addition to ceramic brakes and an updated intake manifold.

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic gets its classic branding from the fact that it features a vented duck tail-esque spoiler as found in earlier Porsche models.

The Frankfurt Motor Show offerings continue to get better and this ones directed right at you soccer moms out there with the need for speed. Pictured above is the 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon. As you can see, the car is a station wagon but that doesn’t stop it from being absolutely fierce.

The car is said to feature a 6.3 liter 8 cylinder engine capable of a staggering 525hp. The only bummer? It will probably never see the light of day in North America.

Audi has already shown us their R8 Spyder at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and now they have shown as a similar looking vehicle; the e-Tron concept, pictured above.

This vehicle features 4 separate electric motors, one dedicated to each of the e-Tron’s wheels, which make for a cumulative output of 313 horsepower and 3,319 pounds-per-foot of torque. These impressive numbers make for a 0-62mph sprint of 4.8 seconds. Other features of the e-Tron include electrohyrdaulic braking, a range of 154 miles, a body made up of aluminum and composite materials making for a weight of just 3,527 pounds. One particularly interesting feature to note is the wire spoke 19-inch allow wheels.

Any chances of production are slim as at this time it remains nothing more than a concept.

We’ve already seen Volkswagen showcase their L1 Concept at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and already they have again taken center stage to show us their E-Up! Concept.

This concept measures just 10.5 feet long and is big enough to hold 4 passengers including the driver. Despite being small, the E-Up! is said to be able to reach speeds of up to 85mph while being able to sprint from 0-60mph in 11 seconds or from 0-30 in 3.5 seconds. The vehicle is to be powered by a 18kWh lithium ion battery that gives the E-Up! a range of about 80 miles. Even better, the battery pack will be able to reach an 80% charge in under an hour.

No word on when the E-Up! Concept will go into production, if ever.

The Frankfurt Motor Show is underway and already we’ve seen some interesting vehicles put on display such as the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster and Volkswagen’s L1 Concept. Well now it’s Audi’s turn to show off their S5 Sportback, pictured above.

This vehicle features a 3.0L v6 engine capable of 333hp 324 pounds-per-foot of torque, a 0-62mph sprint of just 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph all while maintaining a EPA rating of around over 24mpg. The car isn’t just fast, it looks nice too, a 4 exhaust pipes, S series wheels, a chrome grille and metallic side view mirrors.

Audi suggests their S5 Sportback will be made available in Germany sometime this spring for around €57,900 or around $85,000.

Back towards the beginning of the most Lexus released a render of their LF-Ch hybrid vehicle that is said to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Other than the render we had nothing to go by except for the quote “Think BMW 1 Series, but hybrid.” Well, Lexus has again taken center stage to speak of the LF-Ch and this time we have a bit more details.

First of all, the LF-Ch is said to feature the same engine as the HS 250h along with a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the inside, there is said to be aluminum/wood trim, iPhone docks, ambient light coming from the headlinders and Lexus’ Remote Touch controls as featured on the RX 450h.

Just like the R8 Spyder, we don’t have many details, so we are again going to have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show.

It seems that Audi has grown tired of the leaks and what not and has decided to officially unveil the R8 Spyder ahead of its planned Frankfurt Motor Show debut.

Other than it’s beautiful drop top design, as you can see above, this thing is a beast. The R8 Spyder will feature a 5.2 liter V10 engine capable of     525 horsepower and 390 pounds-per-feet of torque. Unfortunately, the above shot and specs are the only thing we have to go by for now so we’ll have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show to hear more.

Well here we go again — Audi has recently launched the website, electricityuntamed.com that has a countdown to September 15th. Included in said website is a teaser video letting us know that on September 15th they will definitely be announcing some kind of all electric vehicle.

Unfortunately, all the website do is tease us, like mentioned above, so we’re going to have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show to hear again of this all electric vehicle. Although all of the statements included in the teaser video focus heavily on how powerful electricity is so, perhaps an all electric Audi R8? Hey, a guy’s gotta dream, right?

Earlier this week BMWgave us our first look at their Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept hybrid behicle via a promotional video. Sure, the car was prominently displayed but the chances of us seeing it in the wild anytime soon were slim to none, or so we thought.

What you see above is a spy shot, taken by a Car and Driver reader, of the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept as it was set up for a photoshoot. As you can see, the car looks absolutely stunning but like I said before there’s almost no chance that it will look like this if/when it enters production.
