Wheego Electric Cars is making sure that they offer the best lithium batteries for their line of all-electric cars. Wheego has chosen Flux Power to be their lithium battery provider for their fleet of electric cars which include the Whip LiFe and the Whip LSV. The Whip LSV is now available at authorized outlets and retailers.
A prototype of the Wheego Whip LiFe is on display this week at the Washington D.C. Auto Show. The all-electric car, with a top speed of 65 miles per hour, will be ready to ship to consumers this summer.
If you, like me, have ever looked at that Chevy Volt and wondered how it works, just stay tuned because we’ve got a look at it in easy video format.
So the crew out at Chevrolet took some of our tax dollars and put together this informative little video–and I mean little, too, it weighs in at just short of three minutes runtime–explaining just how exactly that electric car works.
I personally had a big problem when they announced, in the most chipper manner possible, that with a full battery and a full tank of gas you could get three hundred miles range. Why does this annoy me so, you wonder? Well, I already get over three hundred miles on a full tank of gas and I don’t need a battery to do anything more than start the car. Of course, my gas tank might be a bit bigger–twelve gallons, roughly–but it has better range than this magnificent electric car.
But still, the look at the Chevy Volt is highly informative and pretty easy to understand, too. So satisfy your curiosity about this new paradigm in American automobile engineering below!
The Full-Speed Wheego Whip Life is scheduled to be in attendance at the Washington Auto Show today, christened as the first affordable electric car. The Full-Speed Wheego Whip Life runs on Lithium Ion Batteries and can reportedly run 100 miles on a single charge. It takes about 8 hours to recharge on a standard house outlet.
The target price for the Full-Speed Wheego Whip Life will be $32,000 but with a Federal Tax Credit of $7,500, the car will only go for $24,500. Features include remote keyless entry, air conditioning, and an MP3 stereo system. The Low-Speed version of the Wheego Whip will be available for test drives at the Washington Auto Show in the ride-and-drive area.
A bit of an update for you today, folks–today we’ve got footage of the new sweet ride from Mercedes, the Mercedes SLS AMG. We even know that this particular model is in Desert Gold.
This particular model was made for the Dubai Auto Show that took place about a week or two ago (one wonders how the crash of Dubai affected such an event) so it’s definitely a one of a kind system that looks just INCREDIBLE.
Seriously, they talk about this thing looking like a mirage and I believe it. After watching that video I still have a hard time believing I saw it, and I literally JUST SAW IT.
Another key takeaway about this model’s finish is that normally all the trim pieces would be chrome, but here? They’re replaced with black. This is probably for the best given that the car in question is a lighter color.
You’ll also get a look at the car’s interior, and I’ll say this much, inside looks just as nice as outside. So enjoy the footage of the Mercedes SLS AMG. However, for those of you hoping for footage of the all electric version, I don’t think you’ll get it here. There’s too much noise, really.
With plans to introduce 100,000 electric cars and 25,000 charging stations, London looks like it will earn the title of being the electric car capital of the world. The move is seen as London’s initiative to fight the growing concern for the rising problems concerning carbon emissions. The same initiative is being done all over the world but nothing definitive in numbers have so far been bared similar to that of London.
And to entice consumers to embrace this new alternative, the usual incentives to drivers to switch to electric vehicles is of course included. If all works well, the new direction should help address London’s declining air quality, considered one of the worst in Europe.
The Nissan V2G (Vehicle to Grid) has been awarded the Youthmobile 2030 Design Challenge thanks mainly to its design and environmental features. It is actually an electric car which has been designed to run on a network of electrified highways. The car has customized parts which allows potential owners to snap them on and off depending on their preference. The said customized parts are made from carbon nanotunbe cloth which are impregnated with bio resins that should allow them to be recycled continuously.
Entries were judged by multi-discipline design professionals who selected the winner based on its originality of creative concept, integration of futuristic design elements and level of adaptation to the needs of the youth consumer in 2030.
Tesla Motors is getting much attention again these days and it is not about its hit electric car. Rather, it is more on the reported strategy of the electric car company to go public by offering IPO shares, the first US auto company since Ford in 1956. Now you may be thinking that this is not the right time for people to think about investments but considering its popularity starting from the much talked-about Tesla Roadster, who know which heavyweight investor/s would come out in the open and grab the opportunity? For sure a lot! Interested? The public offering is expected to be offered anytime from now up to September 20, 2010. Interested?
The Aptera 2e, that all-electric car that has made consumers’ minds roll on what is really the score with the whole design will be delayed. This was learned after Aptera announced that the Aptera 2e will start production in 2010. Originally, this vehicle was to start production this year but apparently some money considerations has stalled the vehicle from breaking ground. The forefathers are contending that they can shell out the cash to kick off things but want to avail of the financing program before making any hasty decisions.
This means that the 4,000 people who have placed pre-orders will have to wait some more before the Aptera 2e really goes into production. Hopefully though the long wait will be worth every penny that they had deposited for the said vehicle.
Peugeot has unveiled a new emission-free electric car in the market coined the BB1. This new concept electric car can seat up to 4 adults and can go as far as 75 miles. It is easy to park and is fitted with two electric motors mounted at the rear wheel. It runs on two lithium-ion batteries and the passenger compartment ventilation keeps operating in daylight thanks to solar panels on the roof of the vehicle.
No word on whether this will become official nor numbers to support it. But maybe when everything is ironed out, we can get more specifics about this latest electric car from Peugeot.
Over the course of the next two years, the British government, as announced by transport secretary Lord Adonis, has announced that they’ll be installing a whopping two thousand electric car “charging points” over the next two years.
First to benefit from the new additions will be Gateshead and Newcastle, and the word is that the charge points will be located near shops and other public thoroughfares, likely because that’s where people are mostly likely to be driving their electric cars to. In an interesting move, some of them will also be placed curbside and in parking lots (park and juice up…now there’s an idea.).
Some of them will be free to use, while others will require an annual subscription fee to access, and hopefully everyone will know which is which well in advance to prevent any misunderstandings. I can just see people pull up to a charge point with their battery on low just to discover that they’ve pulled up to a subscription-only point.
Of course, since the subscription includes unlimited use, hopefully good Samaritans will be along to provide a little extra juice in cases like that. But still–this is a pretty bright idea whose time has more than come.
