The 2010 Lotus Exige S240 was officially unveiled in the U.S. and Canadian markets, bringing a new transport solution for conservative and super-charged car fanatics. It comes with a new type of styling with its new rear wing enhancements for efficient aerodynamic performance. This light weight vehicle also boasts of new air intakes to ensure vehicle ride efficiency. Other highlights include a fully independent suspension, a supercharged 1.8 liter Lotus-tuned and 2ZZ-GE engine with Intelligent Variable Valve Timing (VVT-i), airbags and an on-board tire pressure monitoring system. For access and security, the Lotus Exige S240 also comes with a “Thatcham approved” alarm/immobiliser system that incorporates alarm and central locking.

Scheduled to come out this fall, the 2010 Lotus Exige S240 will start at $65,690.

Barb Samardzich, VP of global powertrain development over at Ford, recently took center stage at this year’s 2010 model preview to announce that they will be adding an all new 2.0l EcoBoost 4cylinder engine to their 2010 vehicle lineup.

Furthermore, Ford has also said they will be launching a 6-speed dual clutch gear box with Powershift technology that uses a dry clutch system as compared to wet systems found on current vehicles. This new technology will apparantly make for a 7-9% increase in efficiency over automatic transmissions currently on the market.

We’re not sure exactly when these two technologies will be available or which model will see them first but we’ll be sure to let you know.

Adura Systems Inc. continues to improve on its electric range of medium and large vehicles by adding the Freescale Semiconductor’s FlexRay automotive microcontroller for high-speed in-vehicle networking. This development is seen as a great move towards the direction of bringing down the growing problems of carbon emissions while providing more power.

FlexRay technology is unique among vehicle communication systems in its determinism and high speed. This technology, combined with DEFT-net, allows Adura to shift traditional mechanical and electronic complexity into software which increases efficiency and lowers overall systems costs.

“Adura’s selection of Freescale’s S12XF MCU is another milestone for FlexRay technology as the communications standard is now being deployed in both conventional and ‘green’ vehicles,” said Ray Cornyn, director of automotive microcontrollers at Freescale. “By leveraging the exceptional performance of FlexRay technology, Adura is setting compelling new standards for electric and hybrid vehicles that are designed to significantly reduce global emissions.”

GPS systems are coming out one after the other and normally they are meant to serve as guides and to help in improved economical fuel consumption. Apparently not all people are good at directions and this new concept Intelligent Learning Navigation System dubbed “ILENA” for the BMW is bound to be a big help.

BMW has hinted at the future of navigation units with their upcoming Intelligent Learning Navigation System dubbed “ILENA,” that learns owners’ driving habits and analyzes a car’s current location to predict where the driver may want to go next.

And, this detective ability will be accurate 80 percent of the time. Besides keeping track of your daily destinations, BMW claims increased efficiency by adapting to the owner’s seating preferences and rear view mirror, making it even more convenient to wheel around. BMW says the system won’t be road-ready for about five years or so.
