Rinspeed details magic gas-saving switch

Rinspeed has recently announced a switch that they’ve tested in a Fiat 500 Abarth, now dubbed a Rinspeed E2, that magically improves gas mileage. But how?

Well, it’s not really magic at all. When the Rinspeed E2 is switched into ‘Commuter’ mode the engine drops down to a paltry 60 hp, but recieves an impressive 58 mpg; switch it into ‘Highway’ mode and the engines full 160hp kicks in but only recieves 33 mpg.

The Rinspeed E2 will be detailed in more, well, detail at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Aptera e2 drive on video

Have you ever wondered what the inside of an Aptera e2 looks like when it’s being driven? Well, look no further as a video was recently posted on the Aptera Forum showcasing a ride in the e2.

Does anyone else notice that some things are starting to look eerily like they did in old books predicting the future? Now all we need are some flying cars.
