The first thing you think of when you hear of the DeLorean Motor Company is most likely the Back to the Future series where their DMC-12 was used as the iconic time machine. Well, the company ceased to exist due to bankrupcty but if recent rumors are to be believed it may be looking to make a comeback with the Pontiac Solstice in tow.

These rumors come from the above rendering that shows a Pontiac Solstice inspired vehicle manufactured by the DeLorean Motor Company. Further kindle was added to the fire by reports that the company got their hands on a Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe for evaluation.

John DeLorean may be remembered as one of the 20th Century’s most important automotive personalities. And his story will soon be told on film, thanks to three competing projects. First is a movie by Time Studios and XYZ Films. It’s the only project to get assurance of cooperation from DeLorean’s family and friends, making it the most likely to contain the authentic version of events.

DeLorean’s story became entangled in drug trafficking charges later in his life, and while he ultimately won the court battle, the controversy remained. Bankruptcy and the failure of his own short-lived DeLorean Motor Company also add to DeLorean’s life epic. A Texas company has acquired the DeLorean Motor Company name and is now building recreations of the famous gullwing vehicle.
