Toyota Would Like To Talk To You

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Yes, Toyota would like a few words with you about their massive bungling and badly borked cars.

When I first caught that there was a word from the current Toyota COO on YouTube, I knew I was going to have to write about it.  What would happen here?  I figured one of three things:

1. They’d go all “Nixon In The Rose Garden” on us and give us a bunch of incoherent mumbletypeg about quality and service and how none of this was really their fault so please don’t sue.

2. They’d go the “Sharp Cereal Professor” route, take full responsibility for the mess and hope that we’ll be willing to forgive and forget.

3.  They’ll hand him a sword and get a guy behind him.  He’ll know what to do from there.

Okay, so the chances of him falling on his sword–literally–were pretty slim.  So we got a mix of one and two, with lots of seemingly heartfelt apologies that were very light on the details.  If you’d like to see Toyota’s COO do a whole lot of kissing, check out the video below.

Aston Martin opens first South American dealership

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Until now, Aston Martin did not have a dealership in South America, you’d have to import your Aston’s from overseas if you wanted one. But as of today, the first Aston Martin dealer in South America has opened: Aston Martin Santiago in Santiago, Chile. The dealer plans on selling 15 cars this year, and another store in Sao Paolo, Brazil, will open later this year as well.

3 teens + 2010 Mustang GT test drive = bad

Monday, July 13th, 2009

It seems that three 19-year olds talked their way into being able to test drive one of Ford’s brand new 2010 Mustang GTs. I’m sure you can guess what happens next.

One thing led to another and the driver managed to lose control completely demolishing the vehicle. As you can see, the entire front end of the car has been destroyed to the point you can barely tell what kind it is. Jalopnik also reports that they managed to crinkle the main cabin structure and tear the entire front suspension off. What the hell did they hit?

Luckily, the 3 teens managed to walk away from the crash with minor injuries despite one of them being launched from the car on impact. Moral of the story? Don’t let kids test drive brand new cars at least, not fast ones.
