Lambo crashes head first into London tree

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Ahh, there’s nothing like an expensive, exotic car that’s crashed. It attracts more on lookers and if it was simply parked in all its glory. More pics here.

After watching this video, it’s amazing how little is needed to roll over a speeding car — just a little push, that’s it.

Two Minutes of Crashes From 24 Hours of LeMans

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

In case you’re not already familiar, 24 Hours of LeMans is the oldest endurance-based automobile race on the face of the planet, a race that’s held every year and has been so since 1923.  Just like the name implies, the race lasts for twenty four straight hours, which is a test of skill just as much as it is a test of endurance.

And as such, you can figure there will be a whole lot of nasty wrecks going on in such an event, if for no other reason that a lot of people are tearing around a track without a whole lot in the way of, you know, sleep.

This gives rise to the following video, showing us two solid minutes of crack-ups and crashes from the long running 24 Hours of LeMans race series.  The full video is below, and rest assured, it will have all the crashes you could possibly want and then some, so if you’re a crash fan, enjoy.

Spectacular Sprint Car Wreck

Friday, January 29th, 2010

There’s always something shockingly compelling about a car crash.  It’s a strange combination of adrenaline and a visceral thrill that definitely holds the interest.  Plus you’ve got all that guilt to sort through–you’re staring at this but people may well be hurt or dying.

Of course, seeing all that metal suddenly go flying is an amazing sight.  Let’s face it, folks, you don’t see a horizontal rain of metal shards all that often, so it has to be a compelling sight for its sheer novelty.

And no matter how you take your car crashes, you know that there’s a superabundance of them on YouTube.

So check out this one, uploaded bare hours ago, of a spectacular sprint car wreck that happened on the Ohsweken Speedway.  Mikey Kruchka, driver for Big Moose Racing, was at the wheel when this one went down.  And even better, the video of this crash is done as photo slideshow.

Dump truck takes down pedestrian bridge

Ouch! We really feel sorry for the folks on that pedestrian bridge, which was pretty much pulverized by a speeding dump truck in Turkey.

Three Minutes of Car Crashes

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Admittedly, we’re getting a little low-brow with this video, but sometimes you just want that visceral thrill that comes from watching high speed collisions.

And as it turns out, there are LOTS of these types of videos out there, it’s just that this happens to be one of the newest ones.

Celebrating the incredible advances in rally safety technology, we thus present three solid minutes of car crashes.  The interesting part here is that most of the people involved in these accidents likely walked away from them due to such advances as crumple zones, roll cages and even just the everyday, ordinary seatbelt.

It may be a thrill to watch, but it’s also an excellent cautionary tale–no one wants to be involved in one of these things, so it’s a good idea to drive as safely as possible and to always use your seatbelt, as they do an excellent job of keeping you alive should one of these very things happen to you.

So enjoy the video, and absorb the lesson.

Two Years Of Sweet Rides On A Horrible Track

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

So I spotted this video today and had to bring it back here for you.  This is actually a promotional video for a DVD collection that features two years’ worth of sweet rides in action.  But if you believe what the general consensus says about this so far, not only will you get to see two years of sweet rides, you’ll also get to see them blast around the worst track ever.

Seriously, just looking at that track looks like they’re using olive oil for track preparation.  The track actually SHIMMERS in the lights.  It’s incredibly dangerous, and you’ll see from the video–which is a whole lot of drag racers careening around this supremely slick track–that it results in some really astounding car crashes.

Some of them don’t even manage to get off the line!  There’s one great sequence where a car rolls about three feet before its engine bursts into flames.  It’ll still be cool to watch it happen even when you see it.

So enjoy the video–we’ve got it below–and check out their home page if you want to see more.

Italian Police Can’t Hang, Crack Up Lambo Gallardo Squad Car

Monday, December 7th, 2009

You know, only in Italy would you ever see the phrase “Lamborghini Gallardo squad car” without the two key clauses being separated by something like “was pulled over by a”.  But indeed, that was the case as Lamborghini donated three Gallardos to the Italian Police.

They’ve already crashed one of them.

I know, you’re goggling.  That really is a lot to handle, so let me give you the background.  Police took one of the Gallardos in question, loaded with a passel of optional gadgets like a built-in cooler for organ donations, to a student job fair, and on the way back, they had to swerve to avoid another car coming out of a gas station.

This launched an orgy of vehicular destruction that was, if reports are to be believed, was downright epic.  It took out “a number of parked cars” before it ultimately came to rest UNDER a small SUV. Yeah, UNDER.

Though there’s no word about injuries, so it’s probably a safe bet to say there weren’t any.  However, I’ll give odds there were a LOT of torqued Italians out there.

Jetpod flying taxi inventor dies during crash test

Monday, August 17th, 2009

It seems that Michael Robert Dacre the guy behind the Jetpod flying taxi has recently died during a test flight for one of his latest prototypes. Reports say that the Jetpod prototype made it into the air only to come crashing down to the ground in a fiery inferno.

There’s no telling if this will effectively halt the production of the Jetpod flying taxi (which was supposed to go into production sometime next year) but we have to say this is quite the tradegy. Let’s just hope that everyone else at Acven will recuperate after said tragedy and continue working on the Jetpod flying taxi.
