What you see above is the Hennessey Hyundai Genesis Carbon Coupe, a vehicle created by John Hennessey and students of his recently launched Tuner School.

This vehicle features 500hp and 465 pounds-per-feet of torque thanks to a turbocharger, new high flow fuel injectors and a plehtora of other upgrades. The creators say the vehicle can reach 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and complete a 1/4 mile in just 12.5 seconds.

Want it? Too bad as it’ll probably never see public production.

There’s a new Land Rover in town and it’s going to enter production soon. The LRX concept has been shown at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show and it looks like the car maker has decided to start producing it. The LRX will not be available however until 2011 but at least we know we can get this baby at some point in the future.

We don’t have all the hot details about the insides of the LRX so we’ll just have to believe Land Rover when it says that this new SUV will be “the smallest, lightest and most efficient vehicle the company has ever produced.” Current rumors about the LRX mention things like all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain or electric motor for the rear wheels. With that in mind we’ll just have to keep waiting for Land Rover to reveal everything there is to know about the LRX.

Cadillac has recently stepped forward to let us know that their will in fact be a 2011 version of the CTS-V Coupe hitting dealerships next May.

We have no official word on specs as Cadillac is reportedly still thumbing through their options but we do know that it will be featured alongside the normal CTS Coupe. We’ll keep you updated as specs and pricing are made known.

All we can guess at this point is the 2011 CTS-V Coupe will be fast, very fast.

Earlier this month we showed you Honda’s CR-Z hybrid sports car that is supposed to be shipping sometime next year. Well, you didn’t think Toyota would just let Honda off scott free, did you? OK, good as what you see above is apparantly a concept sketch of their Prius coupe.

All of this is currently just a rumor (including the car itself) but reports say that the Prius coupe will feature a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine capable of 134 horsepower along with Toytoa’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system. You can expect this car to be slightly worse in terms of fuel economy given the extra power.

Autoblog reports that we may see this vehicle hit the streets sometime in 2012. However, just like everything else that is cool, there is no word of a North American release. Bummer.

Acura has today revealed their brand new 2010 Acura ZDX which is currently slated for a winter North American release. Other than the above photo we have learned a bit about the car’s specs. The 2010 ZDX will be a 4-door coupe capable of seating up to 5 adults along with a plethora of hidden storage compartments.

Under the hood, however, is a 3.7-liter V6 engine capable of 300HP and 270 pounds of torque. Additionally, the vehicle will feature a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Acura’s Super Handling AWD system.

Pricing has yet to be announced but as the 2010 Acura ZDX’s release date draws nearer we will keep you posted.

2010 Peugeot 407 Coupe

Peugeot is enhancing its 407 Coupe model lineup for 2010 by introducing a new pair of diesel engines that have been developed with Ford. There is the new 3.0-liter V6 HDi diesel that was recently introduced on the Citroen C5 and C6 models. The new 3.0-liter generates 240HP at 3,800 rpm and is the most powerful engine ever used on a production Peugeot. It is furnished with a particle emissions filter (PEF) and compliant to Euro 5 standards. This V6 diesel is joined with a six-speed sequential automatic gearbox that powers the four-seater coupe from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 240km/h or 149 mph.

The second new diesel engine for 407 Coupe is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder HDi that is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox and develops an output of 163HP and 340Nm of torque. With the 4-cylinder HDi, this 407 Coupe goes from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 9.1 seconds with a maximum speed of 220km/h or 137mph. All the 2010 407 Coupe models come with newly styled door mirrors and an all-new navigation system.

With Lexus now offering an IS Convertible, many are wondering if a sporty IS Coupe will ever be launched. It seems likely an IS Coupe would share many of the attributes of the IS Convertible, including most of the engineering, body work, and interior fittings.

Lexus general manager Mark Templin said that while there is no confirmation of an IS Coupe, “it’s certainly something we [Lexus] should study carefully.” If put into producuction, the IS Coupe will probably share the same 2.5L and 3.5L engines as the rest of the IS range, and perhaps Lexus would also introduce its 5.0L V8 engine into the car to directly to compete with the BMW M3 Coupe and Audi S5.

Volkswagen may be preparing a new three-door version of its 2010 Polo hatchback, but a reported coupe version due late next year may be even more attractive. That car would fit into VW’s lineup as a smaller sibling to the Scirocco coupe, and will share most of its styling, and there may even be some influence from the recently unveiled Bluesport roadster concept.

As a more aggressive version to the Polo family, this coupe will be getting the auto maker’s splendid 1.4L supercharged and turbocharged engine. According to AutoExpress, the compact engine will be putting out close to 180hp (140kW) in the Polo coupe, and this should provide for some high-spirited performance, particularly when paired with VW’s new 7-speed DSG. This same engine will also be seen in the Polo GTI, which was recently previewed as a concept at the 2009 Worthersee tuner show.

Brabus, a German tuning company, has recently gotten their hands on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe, pictured above.

This mean car got even meaner, Brabus has upped the 5.5 liter engine to 6.1 liters making for an output of 462 horsepower and 454 pounds of torque. This means the car will be boosted from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and top speed of 196 mph.

That’s not all though as they also fitted the car with a bodykit (as you can see) and 20-inch alloy wheels. AutoBlog also reports that coilovers are available to adjust the car’s ride hight along with upgraded brakes.

The whole kit will cost you around $40,000 on top of the price of the already expensive Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe. Hey, it costs to be fast.

Mercedes-Benz E500 Coupe

The new Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe is a month away from its U.S. release but the first one was delivered to a customer in Germany today. The celebration, held at Mercedes’ E-Class plant in Bremen, witnessed Siegfried Möller taking the keys of his new car, an E500 Coupe in palladium silver.

Mr. Möller claims to have been driving Mercedes models for over 25 years and has received other cars from the Bremen plant in the past.  This new E-Class Coupe currently holds the title of world’s most aerodynamic production car. American buyers will have to wait until next month to take possession of their E-Class Coupes. The car will start at $48,925  for the E350 model, while the V8-powered E550 starts at $55,525.

Bentley is confident that its customer base will be ready to purchase again as early as next year. In fact, this luxury British brand is so sure that it is bumping up its release dates for its future product cycle by about half a year which means that the successor to the popular Bentley Continental GT may be coming as early as next year.

While the next-generation Bentley Continental GT coupe will probably arrive by next year, it will be followed by replacements for the Continental Flying Spur four-door sedan, in addition to the GTC convertible version. Also expected next year is a replacement for the Arnage which is expected to roll in as a new super-luxury model towards the end of the year.

There is no better vehicle today to epitomize the meaning of getting more power from a vehicle other than the 2010 Ford Shelby GT500. Ford’s Special Vehicle Team used the gains made on the Shelby GT500KR “King of the Road” Mustang as the performance starting point.

The design team, with a nod to the original Shelby Cobra from the 1960s, takes those cues even further with nuanced improvements in both the coupe and convertible, each boasting a more-refined interior.

Power comes from a supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter dual overhead cam V-8 engine that produces 540 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 510 ft.-lb. of torque at 4,500 rpm. The 2010 Shelby GT500 delivers improved straight-line acceleration, plus fuel savings when cruising on the highway in the top gears.

Gears 1-4 remain the same, but fifth gear changes from .80 to .74 while sixth gear goes from .63 to .50, meaning lower engine RPMs in those gears and improved fuel efficiency. The new final drive ratio, moving from 3.31 to 3.55, enables the improved acceleration in lower gears while complementing the revised fifth and sixth gear ratios.

The 2010 Shelby GT500 features AdvanceTrac, Ford’s stability control system, with several options for performance. The default “on” mode accommodates everyday driving, and a Sport mode delivers for those wanting to put the Shelby GT500 through its paces on the track. When turned off, the anti-lock brake system and other active safety systems remain in place.

Genuine materials such as leather in all seats, aluminum on the instrument panel and Alcantara suede inserts on the seats and steering wheel give the 2010 Shelby GT500 a precisely crafted yet functional feel. Customers can select racing stripes on the seats that match the exterior stripes.

The 2010 Shelby GT500 will be in dealer showrooms in spring.

1 Series BMW

In 2009 the US will finally see the arrival of the new BMW 1 series. Many people believe this coupe will silence the critics of BMW that have seen the 3 series lose its appeal as it grew more bloated and less sporty. The 1 series is touted at the being more reminiscent of agile, rear-drive vehicles that earned BMW the label of the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Unlike the european version, the US is unlikely to see a four cylinder version. With the most likely variant being a 6 cylinder 3.0.

Whether or not the new 1 series will meet the enthusiasts hopes remains to be seen. No doubt it will spark a lot of discussion between the purists and the new enthusiasts.
