People in Malaysia may be driving in style soon as the R57 Mini Cabriolet has been reportedly on sale. The MINI Cabriolet continues to use a soft top and now features larger side windows and a new retractable rollbar to help improve driver’s visibility. The rollbar moves up and down as required to help offer the driver an unrestricted rear visibility.
The soft top comes down in just 15 seconds, and the Malaysian spec car comes with the Always-Open Timer as standard, which shows the driver the time they’ve spent driving with the roof down. Unlike the Cooper and Clubman which are available with both the regular and the turbocharged S versions, the Cabriolet comes only with the normally aspirated 1.6 liter for now, putting out 120 horsepower at 6,000rpm and 160Nm of torque at 4,250rpm with the help of Valvetronic.

Seeing a Mini Cooper with a trailer in tow would be absolutely ridiculous, right? According to Mini, no. The automaker has recently announced that they have teamed up with luxury trailer maker Airstream to produce a trailer to match the Mini Cooper S Clubman.
As you can see above this is no ordinary trailer, the side folds out to reveal a bed and a bunch of seating arrangements designed by Fritz. The trailer itself ain’t so mini clocking in at a full 22 feet.
The special edition Mini Cooper S Clubman isn’t very ordinary itself featuring neoprene covered seats, dashboard and side paneling, a surfboard rack on top, and enough room in the trunk to fit a whole slew of scuba gear. Sounds cool huh? Too bad it’s only a concept at this point.
Press release after the break. (more…)

MINI Cooper S Clubman
Mini and Airstream have joined forces to offer the one-off MINI Cooper S Clubman and Airstream creations designed by Republic of Fritz Hansen. The Cooper S Clubman reflects the same adventurous personality and style as its Airstream companion plus all the interior gadgets you can expect to find in a MINI. This MINI Cooper S Clubman will be predominately jet black with black “wetsuit” neoprene accents along with green trim. “It has always been important for us to implement new products and ideas in unconventional ways.
The concept MINI and Airstream, designed by Republic of Fritz Hansen, presents a surprisingly different way of using a MINI and an Airstream with a design, which consciously transcends into the world of the surfer. At the same time, we have achieved a successful co-operation with two international cult brands which authentically embodies the MINI attitude to life” said, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Head of MINI Brand Communication. We look forward to seeing this handsome pair cruising down the highway!

2009 Mini Clubman
The 2009 Mini Clubman takes the style and panache of the Mini Cooper and reworks it into a vehicle that is both practical and affordable. The EPA fuel efficiency rating of 28 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway is a welcome perk for a gasoline powered engine, and the increased cargo room and addition passenger space give add value where value is needed. Even so, you wouldn’t want to stuff two or three adults into the back seat (or any adults) unless they are very, very small. For kids or pets however, the back seat is adequate and at least it exists.
The base model comes standard with a 4-cylinder, 118 horsepower engine, but the S model improves on that considerably with a turbocharged version that boosts the horsepower to 177. The 2009 Mini Clubman isn’t really targeted at people looking for horsepower though. If you’ve always wanted a Mini Cooper but couldn’t justify it because you have kids or dogs or both, the Mini Clubman is your shot at cool. MSRP on a 2009 Mini Clubman runs from $20,000 to $28,000.
