Better known as a truck, the Suburban made its way into civilization way back in 1935, carrying a frame borrowed from a commercial truck and a seating capacity for about eight that can easily convert to a huge cargo area. But it was perhaps from 1973 to 1991 where the Suburban made its mark as an ideal form of large vehicle transport, something that should serve as living proof that the Chevy Suburban will still be around for more years to come.

So the crew out at Chevrolet took some of our tax dollars and put together this informative little video–and I mean little, too, it weighs in at just short of three minutes runtime–explaining just how exactly that electric car works.

I personally had a big problem when they announced, in the most chipper manner possible, that with a full battery and a full tank of gas you could get three hundred miles range.  Why does this annoy me so, you wonder?  Well, I already get over three hundred miles on a full tank of gas and I don’t need a battery to do anything more than start the car.  Of course, my gas tank might be a bit bigger–twelve gallons, roughly–but it has better range than this magnificent electric car.

But still, the look at the Chevy Volt is highly informative and pretty easy to understand, too.  So satisfy your curiosity about this new paradigm in American automobile engineering below!

The vehicle features a 7.0L V8 engine that is good up to 505 HP. It boasts of spider design chrome Z06 wheels, Z06 plates, a Stinger-style stripe on the front hood and fascia, chrome exterior badges and a painted Z06 spoiler and body color door handles. Inside, the Corvette contains a Dark Titanium leather-wrapped interior and special Crystal Red center trim plate.

This issue stems from the fact that the Cruze offers spaciousness and amenities becoming of a midsized sedan. The Chevrolet vehicle also boasts of 10 standard airbags. The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze has hit the market, Chevrolet’s entry into the small car segment. The 2011 Cruze will be available in two engine variants, 1.8L (4 cylinder) and 1.4L (turbocharged inline four with variable valve timing). It also boasts of a cool interior upgrade which should be modern and attractive to people looking at interior car make as well.

A bunch of goodies to go with the 2011 Cruze include Bluetooth connectivity, leather seats, USB port for audio devices, satellite navigation and 10 standard airbags. That is quite a batch of features considering this compact car may find it hard to appeal to the mass car market. The Cruze will be replacing the Cobalt.

Professional basketball players have all the money to burn. And you can bet that among their list of needs would be a lush car to have in their grasps. But for Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum, getting a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is not enough. In fact, this car buff went to the trouble of customizing it to look like BumbleBee of the Transformers movie fame.

How did he do it? Simple. Bynum just bought a customized body kit and had a yellow paint job and placed some black racing stripes down the car’s hood. So where else would Bynum get the idea other than from the movie where it was the star of the flick? And though it wasn’t mentioned, it is pretty obvious that Bynum is a fanatic of the Transfomers movie!

Dealers will start taking down orders by the fourth quarter of 2010 and delivery of the vehicles will commence in 2011. No word on the pricing though.

It seems that today GM’s VP for Global Program Management, Jon Lauckner, was questioned about how much consumers can expect to pay for the Chevy Volt.

Apparanatly, GM hasn’t even begun pondering the price point but will do so sometime mid-late 2010. Below Lauckner speaks of the Volt’s pricing:

“We typically do not lock in on pricing until about 3-6 months prior to start of production. The reason is primarily so we have an opportunity to take a look at the market, competitors and other factors. So stay tuned.”

Let’s hope that GM can price the Volt competitively enough that it will cause a price war between all-electric automakers. Because, you know what price wars mean for us, right? Lower prices, of course.

Surely, vehicles still operating satisfactory may be better off being sold by owners or even trading it in. Whichever course of action a car owner may choose, it certainly looks ideal if this Cash for Clunkers Rebate program is the final guidelines issued:

• It will offer no more than $4,500 to new car buyers.
• It will require the trade-in vehicle to be crushed (which means that owners will not collect any trade-in value.)
• Cars to be scrapped would have to have EPA combined fuel economy ratings of 18 miles per gallon or less, and the new vehicle purchased must earn better mileage.
• The participant must have owned the “clunker” for one year.

• 1996 Honda Passport ($1,227)
• 1997 Lincoln Continental ($1,179)
• 1998 Chevrolet Silverado ($3,378)
• 1995 Audi A6 ($1,261)
• 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser ($4,042)

“This legislation attempts to offer a benefit for the environment and to spur vehicle sales, but the reality is that it does neither very well,” asserted Edmunds.com CEO Jeremy Anwyl. “In terms of vehicle sales, the only consumers who will be interested are those willing to take no more than $4,500 for their current car and yet be financially able to buy a new one – quite a narrow profile.”

Topping the list was Chevrolet’s all-new 2010 Camaro, up from No. 4 in April of this year. The recently redesigned 2010 Ford Mustang came in at No. 2 on the most-searched new vehicles on AutoTrader.com in May, down from No. 1 in April of this year. Rounding out the top three was the Dodge Challenger, which was introduced last year as a 2009 model.

“The 1-2-3 finish by Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge shows that the U.S. is still in love with the American muscle car and that the U.S. manufacturers are rolling out head-turning products that generate the same kind of buzz you hear for Hondas, Toyotas, BMWs and other foreign makes,” said AutoTrader.com President and CEO Chip Perry. “More importantly, the success of the Fusion and the Escape proves that domestic automakers are able to translate the excitement of their halo models into the cars and crossovers that make up the true heart of the American automotive marketplace.”

Not to take anything away from the other car manufacturers, but as mentioned earlier, these figures don’t sum up the intent. Viewership can be based on a lot of things such as merely for glimpses or even a blog review. But then again, who knows if people are simply waiting to get their hands on them when and if the whole recession and economic gloom is lifted.

2010 Corvette Grand Sport

Chevrolet is planning a variety of updates for the Corvette for the 2010 model year, with changes affecting the full lineup, from the base model up to the hot ZR1 supercar. First will be the introduction of the Grand Sport Model, which returns for 2010 with widebody styling and racing suspension. Pricing for the new model has been revealed via the world’s largest Corvette dealer Kerbeck Corvette.

Dave Salvatore of Kerbeck Corvette disclosed to CorvetteBlogger that the new Grand Sport Coupe will be priced from $55,720 including delivery, while the Grand Sport Convertible will cost you back $59,530 including delivery which is a $6,205 increase over the price of the base 2009 Corvette Coupe and $5,360 over the price of the base Corvette Convertible, respectively, but you will get a lot more for your money.
