Known to be the only Hybrid Pickup available in the market, the Chevrolet Silverado claims that it can get up to 40-percent better fuel economy in city driving and 25-percent overall increase in fuel economy.
Large trucks used for city driving are notorious for burning fuel wildly thus making fuel consumption a serious concern. But thanks to the added technology of using electric power for traveling, the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid promises to deliver economic fuel consumption with cargo and towing capability.
The Silverado Hybrid uses GM’s patented two-mode hybrid system — also in the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid — and a powerful 6.0-liter gas V-8. The truck can drive up to 30 mph in all-electric mode before switching to the gas engine, even when the truck is fully loaded or towing a trailer. It can haul up to 6,100-pounds.
