This means that there are tracking cameras which record and take note of your vehicle and they can trace you. There are corresponding penalties and violations and while it is tempting to rev it up the wide open roads, try to keep in mind that you are being watched.

The law currently states that the speed limits are set at 30mph in built-up areas, 40mph in less densely populated areas, 60mph on single carriageways and 70mph on dual carriageways and motorways. Some residential areas have a speed limit of just 20mph, especially near schools.

Speeding is something that will bring you nothing but trouble. For one, regardless of what speed you are traveling, you will get to your point of destination. So with that in mind, save yourself the trouble of ticket violations. If you abuse it, you may even find yourself without a license soon!

The Congestion Charge is a fee charged to motorists who go in and out of Central London. This was first introduced in February of 2003 with the intention of lessening the number of cars allowed into the city.

What is the Congestion Charge?
Simply put, it is an amount charged to motorists who intend to use their car into the city. Depending on the time of the day, various fees shall be charged to motorists traveling in and out of the C-Zone or Central London. The costs are £8 – if you pay by midnight on the day you actually travel, or £10 – if you decide to pay by midnight the following day. No fees are charged on weekends.

How it Works
Through the use of cameras, cars coming in and out are monitored and verified via the database. If the C-Charge for your plate is paid then you are well and good. But if you are found to have not paid, you can face stiff fines and penalties of up to £100.

Pay up within 14 days and that’s reduced to £50. Fail to pay within 28 days and it goes up to £150. After that, you’re in the hands of the County Court, so it’s a lot easier to pay your £8 or £10 up front.

Most motorists would say that this is unfair. But let us face it. During these times of trying to resolve traffic issues, this is one thing that really has to be done for our convenience in motoring.

Police enforcers are going to get a big lift with the announcement that their vehicles will be equipped with the DVM 7950 In-Car Video System for better apprehension of erring drivers on the road. Digital Ally has announced that its latest in-car video system aimed at use in police vehicles is ready to ship.

The system is called the DVM-750 and puts everything the video system needs inside the car with noting needing to be mounted in the trunk. The system includes a camera and a rear view mirror with an integrated LCD monitor.

The system can connect to four different cameras and choose two cameras to record form at once and record three channels of audio at the same time. The recording resolution is 720 x 480 and the video is recorded to SDHC memory cards.

The device also includes a VoiceVault feature that uses a wireless mic capable of transmitting up to one mile for recording events when the officer is outside of video range.
