2010 Camaro reaches 100,000

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

It’s been under a year since the first 2010 Camaro rolled off the production line and already GM is announcing that they have produced a full 100,000 of them. This is great news for the Camaro which has been outselling the Mustang for some time now. The 100,000th Camaro was actually assembled at General Motor’s Oshawa plant and was reportedly an inferno orange SS model.

I think it’s safe to say that the Camaro is here to stay. I wonder if Transformers had anything to do with its success.

Chevy Would Like To Remind You The Camaro Is Not Just For Summer

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

It’s true, folks–the Chevy Camaro is NOT just a summer car, as you might well have thought.  Even I never would have thought of a Chevy Camero as a winter car, at least until I saw this video from Chevy.

Chevy put out this fine bit of advertising trying to appeal, no doubt, to those of us who wouldn’t have thought of this car as doing well on snow.  It shows, clearly, that the Camaro is one horse that can handle the drifts and slick roads and do so in fine style.

Admittedly, the course they had this Camaro on was a closed course, and it didn’t look like it was tackling more than a couple inches of snow, but still–it was clearly moving at a high rate of speed on what would clearly be described as snow covered road.

Anyone who’s tried driving snow covered road will tell you that driving at a high rate of speed on one of them is a difficult proposition at best, and a really bad idea at worst.  So kudos to Chevy for making the Camaro look like a great snow vehicle!

The Hennessey Ford Raptor–Supercharged

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

We’ve had a little experience with the Hennessey line here before, folks–they’ve done some downright amazing stuff with their modified cars.  We’ve seen a Hennessey Camaro, and a Hennessey Genesis Coupe, so let’s see how the Hennessey crew tackles the new Ford Raptor.

They’ve jacked up the horsepower to just over five hundred, and five hundred twenty foot pounds of torque.  Some other modifications have been made, including a stainless steel exhaust system and custom tuning.

But the biggest surprise is in the numbers this beauty turned in, folks–check this out, straight from Hennessey:

Performance results are phenomenal, with 0-60 mph taking just 5.6 seconds (vs. 8.8 second stock) and a quarter mile run in 14.09 seconds @ 97 mph (over 2 seconds quicker than stock).

Folks, I don’t know about you, but I say that those are some really impressive numbers.  And what’s more, you’ll get to see those numbers in action thanks to the video we’ve got below.  If you’re in the mood to get your mind blown by the sheer performance capability of a pickup truck, then you need to see what Hennessey did to theirs.

Corvette ZR-1 powered Camaro track test

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The tuners at Hennessey went an unusual way of boosting the power in their Camaro: they put in the massive engine from the Corvette ZR-1 — a 705 horsepower V8. Check out the video above to see just how well it handles on the track.

A Series Of Camera-Caught Races For You

Friday, January 8th, 2010

The crew out at Mofo Productions, which is a pretty strange name, put together this packet of several races recently, pitting a set of highly tuned cars against each other.  The lineup read as follows:

Turbo Mustang GT vs 700hp Cobra
Turbo Mustang GT vs 200 shot C5
Camaro vs Cobra
Supercharged Corvette vs 200 shot C5 Corvette

The video itself, meanwhile, while putting forth a great exhibition of the power of these various cars, is a bit confusing in that they shot most of it at night when the cars themselves were obscured by the sheer darkness of the night around them.

It may not be the greatest exhibition of car power, but they’re definitely powerful vehicles moving in extremely rapid fashion with loads of power behind them.  It’s a sight to see, even if you can’t see it terribly well.

And, as an added bonus, they’ll throw in a preview of next week’s video which involves a couple other cars going at it, hopefully this time in daylight.

2010 SLP ZL575 Chevrolet Camaro SS In Action!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

As if you needed any more reasons to come here!  But you know we provide, folks, so join us as we head out to the track–well, at least as we watch a video of someone else heading out to THEIR track–and take a spin in the 2010 SLP ZL575 Chevrolet Camaro SS!

Some highlights from the video include the zero to sixty speed–brace yourselves because this sucker goes off the line to freeway speeds in 4.2 seconds, and goes from freeway speeds back TO the line in just a hundred and ten feet of braking room.

We don’t hear much about the Camaro these days, especially in light of all the troubles that parent company GM’s been having, but it’s good to see that even they haven’t forgotten their roots so far as to forget about the incredible speed and power of the Camaro.  In these dark times of woe and want and joblessness and “going green”, it’s good to see that the old muscle cars can still get a  bit of time in the sun.

And not to recharge, either….

2010 Camaro Includes LED Tail Lights–Demonstration Below!

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Oh yeah, do we ever have a doozy for you today, folks–it’s a video from Technostalgia, a company that’s designing a line of LED tail lights for the 2010 Camaro.

Now, you might be wondering what’s so special about a Camaro tail light that I’m willing to take a perfectly good blog post to talk about them.  Well, these aren’t your father’s tail lights, no sir.  What these are is tail lights with varying selectable display modes.

Of course there’s the standard solid flash.  But the turn signal is actually progressive, and moves in the direction of your turn.  That may be pretty interesting, but it also offers the “show” feature.  The show feature basically moves the tail lights’ LEDs in a fluttering fashion, strictly for show, like the name implies.

It’s a clever idea, and I hope they’re not just available on the Camaro.  I’m personally hopeful that they’ll become aftermarket parts for just about any line of vehicle, because they’re both easy to see and, let’s face it, pretty cool-looking.

2010 UNC Tarheel Edition Chevy Camaro

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Okay, somewhere, some Chevy owner loves his UNC Tarheels.

Maybe just a little too much.

Oh, who am I kidding?  There’s no such thing as too much love for your sports team of choice!  And that’s why it’s doubly interesting to bring you actual footage of the 2010 UNC Tarheel Edition Chevy Camaro.

Comments on this particular model, fully kitted out in the light blue of the Tarheels, range from absolute admiration to just as absolute disgust.  Obscenities come into play.  That’s how much feeling people have about this car.

Of course, there doesn’t seem to be that many technical improvements, and it looks more like some guy put a light blue paint job on his own Camaro and added some assorted decals or something.  If those are actual paint reproductions of the Tarheels logo, they’re still pretty awesome.

So what do you think of the Tarheel Camaro?  Is this the kind of thing you’d do to your ride?

725hp Hennessey Camaro next week at SEMA

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

A few days ago we saw the Hennessey tuned Genesis Coupe reach output numbers of up to 500hp. Today we have another car coming from the tuning garage and this time it’s a 2010 Camaro.

Pictured above, this vehicle has a 725 hp and 741 lb-ft of torque making for a 0-60 of 3.5 and thanks to 15-inch Brembo brakes the ability to go from 60-0 in just 104 feet. Couple all of this with some carbon fiber body parts and 20-inch three-piece rims and you have yourself a very enticing vehicle.

Hennessey says we will see more of this vehicle at this year’s SEMA.
