The New BMW 5 Series Sedan offers an athletic yet executive looking vehicle armed with an array of safety features that is typical from their tradition of delivering posh vehicles. The BMW 5-Series Sedan will be available in one V8 and one inline-6 gasoline engine.

Highlights of the BMW 5 Series include a long wheelbase and hood, brake energy regeneration, a modern cockpit design, instrument panel in black technology, a 4th generation iDrive control and an Active Blind Spot Detection. The new 5 Series can also be equipped with a Sport Package but more information for this feature will be relayed prior to the sale date.

Now, here’s where things get weird.  Basically, what it amounts to is a blind spot sensor that covers your blind spot.  As we all know if we’ve been driving for any length of time, there are some portions of the area around you that are invisible while you drive–you can’t crane your head around far enough for your peripheral vision to kick in.  So what the lane change indicator does is, essentially, detect when someone’s in your blind spot and gives you a visible, triangle-shaped warning.

I’m sorry, but this is awesome.  Entirely too awesome for words, in all honesty. I’m willing to bet we’ve all accidentally cut someone off in a lane change at one time or another just because we couldn’t spot them in our blind spot.  This will likely go a long way toward solving that problem.

The deal doesn’t get any better than this. The 2010 Lincoln MKZ offers customers more standard luxury and segment-exclusive safety features for their money, with a starting price of $34,965, including destination and delivery.

Compared with other midsize luxury sedans – such as the Lexus ES350 and Cadillac CTS – the MKZ comes with more standard luxury features, such as Bridge of Weir leather seats, genuine wood trim, heated and cooled front seats, the popular SYNC entertainment and connectivity system, a reverse sensing system and driver multi-adjustable power seat.

The 2010 Lincoln MKZ also has features not offered by competitors in this segment, such as the all-new Blind Spot Information System (BLIS(TM)) with Cross Traffic Alert (CTA).
