Audi A8 to get handwriting recognition?

Friday, July 31st, 2009

German news site Autobild is reporting that Audi is seeking to add touchpads to their next generation line of A8’s, paving the way for handwriting recognition possibilities. This would allow drivers to write out their address destinations than have to select letter-by-letter through their respective GPS systems.

One can argue that this might cause more distraction on the road, but to be honest, writing is less distracting and less time consuming than selecting letters off of a rotary dial.

It’s unknown whether this technology will be making an official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
