Do you remember back in August when we let you know that the Chevy Volt would supposedly get 230mpg? Well, it seems that the vehicle would only be getting 223mpg if it wasn’t for its sleek aerodynamic design, or so GM says.

What you see above is a video breakdown of the aerodynamics surrounding the Chevy Volt letting us know that through various redesigns GM managed to tact on another 7mpg to the car’s overall range. Don’t be surprised if you see someone suddenly driving a 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 in North America some time soon. Chances are it that this person won it through an auction. Making its North America debut, a 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 will be auctioned at the event to support ESH college preparation programs and a state-of-the-art computer technology center for the residents of Mott Haven in the South Bronx.

Valued at $112,200, the lightweight, high performance GT3 is the latest in the new-generation 911 series and will be available at dealerships in fall 2009. The new 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 surpasses the previous model in performance with a larger 3.8-liter, 6-cylinder Boxer engine that features a boost in midrange torque, offering a dramatic increase in everyday driving performance. The limited-edition GT3 accelerates to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 194 mph. The latest GT3 also receives updates to the suspension, refined aerodynamics with a 100% increase in downforce and new, larger brakes.

Colorado is the place to be come this April as the first prototype hybrid vehicle by Lightning Hybrids is set to be unveiled. Lightning Hybrids today announced that it will unveil the prototype of its hybrid vehicle that is being designed and manufactured in Loveland at the Denver Auto Show April 1 to 5, 2009. In addition the unique hybrid drivetrain will be displayed for the first time as well.

The staff at Lightning Hybrids is working night and day to finish the car, called the LH4, in time for the show. “We knew when we decided in January to be at the Denver Auto Show that some of the finishing touches on the car would not be completed, but we will definitely have a car there and are excited for the first public viewing of our vehicle and technologies,” said Dan Johnson, Lightning Hybrids CEO.

The car, a four-seat sports sedan, will average 100 miles to the gallon (biodiesel) and will be able to go 0 to 60 in under six seconds. It has a unique clamshell door that opens upward to allow for superior aerodynamics. In addition to an innovative hydraulic biodiesel hybrid drivetrain, the Lightning Hybrids car has other futuristic innovations like using cameras and screens in place of rearview external mirrors to reduce drag and increase safety. The car will also be available in a three-door four-seat car, and the drivetrain is available in a retrofit kit suitable for fleets as well.
