Honda has recently come forth to issue a recall for their 2001 Accords and Civics.

The recall focuses on the driver’s airbag inflator which could potentially cause excessive pressure when deployed. This could cause a rupture in the inflator thus causing metal shards to go flying every which way and I’m sure you can see the safety hazard in that.

Honda is saying that if you take your vehicle to your local dealership the airbag inflator will be replaced free of charge.

It seems that the stationwagon CUV we heard about back in May has recently been made official by Honda. While we were already aware of the Crosstour moniker, Honda told us that the model will officially called the Accord Crosstour:

An all-new crossover vehicle based on the award-winning Honda Accord will go on-sale in the fall of 2009 as the “Accord Crosstour,” American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. This new addition to the Honda lineup will be sold as a 2010 model. Additional information will be announced later in the year.

So, we now know that the Accord Crosstour will go on sale this fall, but we still don’t know what’s under the hood, what the interior looks like, or how much it will cost. We’ll keep you posted.

Before you get all excited please note that this stands as just a rumor so take it as you will. Our friends over at the Temple of VTEC have recently been contacted by an anonymous source who hints that Honda’s Crosstour will be making its North American debut on October 26th, 2009.

The tip they recieved was the following:

26 Oct 2009 is the release date. NO 4cyl or manual trans. V6 with VCM 2WD or 4WD, 3,500lb towing. 2.5 inches taller than current Accord and 7 inches LONGER than the Venza. Accord platform for sure. They are saying it will have “power fold down seats” on the upper models. I’m not sure of the lower models. It will also have a dealer installed plastic floor cover that will allow it to be like a truck bed. I don’t know how much wider it will be than the Accord. There will be a Base 2wd, 4×4, a mid and top with Navi. Not sure if there will be RES or not. 18 inch wheels on top models along with possible power hatch. 260 plus HP.

I’m pretty sure that every car lover out there has fantasized about using one of those Mr. Fusion that Doc Brown developed for its DeLorean. Will such a device work today? Will a car work on trash?

Thanks to a process called gasification you will be able to transform solid biomass or other carbonaceous solids into a synthetic “natural gas like” flammable fuel. Your trash can be transformed into energy and therefore it can power your car. Unfortunately the whole device looks pretty nasty so you might not want to install it just yet on your favorite car.
