Rinspeed iChange Concept

iChange

Never shy about pushing the edge of design, Rinspeed have brought another concept to light.

Like the sQuba concept from the 2008 Geneva show, the iChange’s purpose is hard to classify. The iChange’s initial intention is to be a low-weight, one-seat sports car, powered by a 130-kW (174-hp) electric motor. The slick teardrop shape resembles something found at a solar-car race, with minimal aerodynamic drag for increased performance. Not in the sporty mood or need to haul a few more people? With the flick of a switch, the car can pull a Clark Kent and change shape when the “electronic trick-tail” rises up “as if by magic” to allow another two passengers to join in the rear.

The iChange concept was designed to challenge automakers to create an “extremely flexible vehicle” that will keep up with the constantly changing energy demand.
