Regenerative Shock Absorbers

Are shock absorbers purely about stance and improving the ride in cars? Shock absorbers are normally seen to handle only the stance of a car. Thanks to technology and some bright minds, shock absorbers seem to have more use with this concept for regenerative energy.
But the engineers over at Tufts have another thing in mind as far as expanding the use of shock absorbers. They have developed these regenerative shock absorbers, a new way of harnessing energy from the vertical movement of a vehicle.
According to Tufts Journal, the technology is an electromagnetic linear generator, which converts energy that would otherwise be lost, into electrical energy that can help charge a vehicle’s battery.
