Putting a Power Trunk in a 1934 Ford Coupe
I have to admit, this video actually caught me off guard, both because the idea is surprisingly simple and the target is surprisingly complex.
So this body shop down in Texas apparently got contracted to convert a 1934 Ford Coupe from a manual trunk to a power-assisted model, and they showed us how to do it. In fact, they produced a whole series of videos showing the job and what went on during it (apparently there was some drama between the ownership and the guy working on the mechanics of the trunk, a fella by the name of Junior). They also had a few other videos in which they did other parts of the car, but this one here is the tail end of the gig in which the Ford’s trunk is shown operating.
It goes without saying that rebuilding a classic Ford Coupe can be a whole lot of work and even more headaches–as evidenced by the fact that this video series runs FORTY FIVE VIDEOS LONG–but the end results, as you’ll see here, can be terribly rewarding.
