The 2009 Nissan Cube looks a little bit like a Scion XB—boxy, sporty, and young, but with a more upscale style to appeal to a broader range of customers. Nissan cars with the cube design have been available overseas since 2002, but this version will be the first ever to be released in the United States. Cubes are built to the same specifications as the Versa Cubes with the same 122-hp 1.8-liter DOHC I-4, coupled to either a six-speed manual transaxle or an optional CVT. Inside the 2009 Nissan Cube things get a little rounder.
The interior design is inspired by something Nissan is calling “The Jacuzzi Curve,” and indeed, the inside walls are curved and give the car a bit of a hot tub feel. Three trim packages will be available for the Cube –each comes standard with ABS, stability and traction control, power locks and windows, six air bags, and air conditioning. Buyers can also add keyless entry and ignition, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and a Rockford Fosgate sound system.
