NHTSA investigating Ford’s defective transmissions

It would appear that it is Ford’s turn for recall today as the NHTSA is investigating reports that 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans have defective transmissions that could “dangerously fail without warning…at highway speeds”. Dang! So far there have been 654 customer complaints and 2,791 warranty claims for repair bills that are as high as $3,500. Worse yet, this could affect over two hundred thousand vehicles, according to NHTSA. Looks like Ford has got some explaining to do.
