It was recently made known that Governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick has begun considering, what has become known as, a ‘Hummer Tax’.
The tax is exactly what it sounds like, buy a big gas guzzlin SUV, get taxed on it. This may seem like some sort of predujice towards SUV lovers but it’s a push by Patrick to encourage potential car buyers to settle for smaller, more gas efficient cars.
Patrick says revenue collected from the Hummer Tax if it is to be enacted will go towards the state’s infastructure.
Really though? I mean car sales are already garbage as is. Why don’t they raise the tax on something like cigarettes?
